I didn't even dare look back if such a thread already exists Laughing so here is my first new thread. I'm really curious what are the reading habits of the people here.
Please don't leave this thread empty, I'll get a newbie complex! Embarassed Laughing

Just starting now The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz. So far seems good...

Re-reading bits and pieces of the Harry Potters, I just finished the latest Odd Thomas, and impatiently waiting for another Harry Dresden book.

Authors that need to get off their butts and put a new book out:

Nelson DeMille
John Sandford
Terry Pratchett
Robert Littell
King & Straub and the last Talisman book.

I can't remember when we last had a book thread, but then they are an illiterate bunch here. Laughing Actually, I am kidding. Baiters are generally ferociously bright. Very Happy

I've just finished an Agatha Christie, and I am halfway through a book called Complaint by Julian Baggini. It looks at why and how we complain, about what we complain and to what end; whether complaints are useful to society, and which types of complaints are effective. I recently lent all but one of my Josephine Teys to a friend, and merely digging them off my bookshelf sparked my interest, so I am about to start the one I did not lend her, The Daughter of Time.

I believe Terry Pratchett has a book in the pipeline, he's no been weel.
I would like a new Christopher Brookmyre book. Loved "Attack of the unsinkable rubber ducks " and the way he extracted the urine out of fake psychics

Reading Neil Gaiman - Anansi Boys
Before that it was Faye Kellerman -Burnt House

Then I've got some Anne McCaffrey dragon books to read, bought them for 69p in the local Marie Curie shop Very Happy

I'm a bit of a philosophy/theology junkie at the moment.

Just finished Plato's "Republic" (brilliant).

And am now reading Richard Dawkins "The God Delusion" (not as good as I'd hoped or as it claims to be).

After I'm done with that, I've got a choice of Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Judgement" or "Aristotle" by Sir David Ross.

A little light reading to lull you to sleep, Slightly?

I bought my dad the God Delusion for his birthday, will borrow it off him soon. I'd also got him the Bill Bryson book on Shakespeare which I also hope to borrow
( there's a pattern there, my dad tends to but me books HE'd like to borrow )

Some dickwad put all the copies of The God Delusion in the fiction section of my local book shop. I moved them back to Spiritual/Mind and Body Very Happy

Both are excellent, I really loved the BB one on Shakespeare.

I've just finished Black Ajax by George McDonald Frasier (he of Flashman fame) -- superb look into Regency England and bare-knuckle boxing. One of my distant ancestors was a bare-knuckle boxer and funnily big hands and a mean punch run in the family...

Tried 'The Blind Watchmaker' but couldn't finish it. Couldn't cope with the writing style.

Have just finished Moneyball and various (at least six) baseball related books mainly dealing with stats and sabrmetrics.

Have a pile of 6 Buddhism related books in front of me, one learning French book (Berlitz self Teacher) and have just got two Micheal Connelly's from the library.

Oh and in the library they have a donated books for sale section, so i've just picked up "One Hundred Years of Solitude" .

I'm on a Dalene Matthee kick at the moment. I've just finished "Circles in a Forest" which I had read years ago in Afrikaans. I loved it. It's historically very accurate and her knowledge of elephants amazing.

@donato
I have a pile of Buddhism books waiting to be read. Very Happy

Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, Schriften und Briefe Bd. 1 "Aphorismen" :
Quote:
The "waste books" (Lichtenberg rendered it roughly as Sudelbücher in German) are the notebooks he kept from his student days until the end of his life. Each volume was accorded a letter of the alphabet from A, which begun in 1765, to L, which broke off at Lichtenberg's death in 1799.

I just ended my philosophy class, so the last thing I read was that "Metaphysic of Morals" thing by that Kant guy. I like the content but the text is so dense it's maddening. Any suggestions for a novel-type work for my next undertaking?
