A very large number of the scam spams come through .edu domains, at least in the first generation. As other mugus pick up and redistribute the scam spams (usually without bothering about format), other zombified computers are used.
Are educational institution e-mail servers spectacularly easy to infiltrate, or do the habits of the drunken louts inhabiting these hallowed halls make it ever-so-easy to plant trojans, worms, etc. while the pampered little twits are illegally downloading "songs" and such?
Just wondering. |

I think they're spoofing the email addresses. If you hit reply, it sends it to one of their Yahoo or Gmail addresses instead. |

given the ability of the average student to cause chaos, it's only surprising more spam doesn't originate from compromised PC's in educational institutions. |

My view point,
Yes they seem to be. I have traced many phishing and spam to foreign (i.e. India, China, area universities.) My email warnings do no good. I think they just don't care or the admins are supplementing their incomes with the work. |
