Happy 4th!!

I just returned from being part of a neighborhood 4th of July parade. What fun! With the kids on their decorated bikes and scooters, people carrying flags and wearing lots of stars and stripes, a fire truck to lead us off, and a police car to bring up the rear (and keep traffic from running us over), it was like a Norman Rockwell moment.

Later we're going to a community celebration, where the entertainment will include a Folklorico group (Mexican folk dancers) and a pipe band. Let me tell you, hearing the anthems of the US armed forces played on bagpipes - not to mention "Yankee Doodle" and "God Bless America" - is quite an experience. Lots of people, lots of food, and a ginormous fireworks display.

Ah - my favorite holiday.
