I'm planning on a trip to Egypt this Christmas for a birthday/graduation/Christmas present to myself. I have a trip, but I need a flight. What would you recommend for a trip from YYZ to CAI and I would like to keep it cheap, as cheap as possible!

reschedule and leave way before Xmas and come back way after new year, that will save you lots, the rest is just google.

My flight dates are December 25th going and returning is January 7th or 8th. I'm still working on when to return!

Have you tried the various websites that specialize in this sort of thing to get some ideas of price quotes? Travelocity, Orbitz, that sort of thing?

What I usually do is ask a travel agent, as I'm on good terms with the one here locally, and they'll look for me to see what the best possible rates are for flights. Don't know if that's an option for you or not.

I did a fast and dirty search with Orbitz and the best I could find, price wise, on that site was through Air Canada/Air France/Egypt Air--you'd be using multiple carriers. After taxes, it works out to about 1,200 USD round trip. This was using a departure date of the 25th and a return date of the 8th. Not sure if that is a feasible rate for you, but you may even be able to find cheaper with more searching.

Air Canada treat you OK, IMO. Attitude can be as important as price on a long flight.

I've checked with a travel agent, whom I think is quite the looker, and she was able to find me something for $1200 with Alitalia. How bad is Alitalia? I keep hearing bad things about it...

If you see a flight you like, you can print it out, hand it to your travel agent babe, and tell her to 'book me, honey'....or book via the airline.

You can't buy the flights on this site, just search the fares...

I used it several times to find flights to asia...

The day of the week that you buy your tickets is important too. Never buy on a Sunday. I use farecast to play the day game. I love it when it says that there is a 8% chance the price will go up 2% and a 85% chance the fare will go down 15% in the next 24 hours. This site has never let me down.

I had a situation in the past where I had to book my SO into a certain hotel. The best way was to book a tour and not use the tour. Came out cheaper that way. This month affordable booked a cruise for exactly half the lowest I could find. You might want to call them or shoot an email.

Even though you might not feel you are a frequent flyer, sign up. The miles add up and the perks are pretty cool.
