So today, out of the blue, my mom says she has something to show me. "One of the ladies from our synagogue has been telling me for months that I need to come over and see this..."
I followed mom, wondering where this was going.
"...I was there today, and she showed it to me..." Mom picks up an empty Abercrombie bag, with a very familiar face on it.
"...and she says, 'this looks just like your daughter'."
Me: 
I'm not kidding when I say that girl in the photograph was my double. Okay, she had narrower eyes and lips, but other than that, it was me. Right there, in black and white, wearing a shirt that showed waaay too much. I showed the bag to my brothers and neighbor, and they confirmed it wasn't a trick of the light.
Now, the obvious explanation is that I have an identical twin sister, seperated at birth, who is posing for the Abercrombie & Fitch advertising department. But I'm willing to look into other possibilities. What if it really is me? What if I've been having memory blackouts, and unknowingly went to work for Abercrombie, or maybe passed an A&F photographer while walking around with my shirt unbuttoned? What if i have multiple personalities, and so unbeknownst to "Chainy", who dresses modestly and lazes around the house all day, "Amanda" poses in slutty outfits for a living, while "Avital" does nurse residency at Mount Sinai?
Maybe I should go to bed now. |
