Those of you who've been around a while may remember my rant on here about my daughter. (Recently she was on 20/20, so maybe you saw her) and then about the first of the year, my 81 yr old mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The PET scan showed that the cancer had metastasized into her liver, her lungs and even into the bone of her shoulder blade (the scapula). Because of her advanced age, her oncologist had eschewed chemotherapy in favor of another daily drug. (We jokingly referred to this drug as 'chemo-LITE'). So for the past few months, she's been down in the dumps.
Thursday she went to the oncologist to read the latest PET scan. With wide eyes he showed her that the cancer was gone from her lungs, gone from her liver and gone from her bones. The original lump in her breast had been reduced by over 50%. Though he cautioned her that someone must be cancer free for 5 years before they call it a full success, she's been dancing around a lot since thursday. LOL

That is great news. Give her a hug from me when you see her! I'll think good thoughts about her on the 3-day this fall. I have lost a couple close family and friends to cancer in the last few years so it's so good to hear a success story.
Did she get herceptin / navalbine by any chance? |

So often there's no good news with cancer, it's great to hear what sounds close to a miracle.
You can only go by your last diagnosis - so dancing does seem to be in order.
In my case I'm going back to the gym and next time I see the specialist I'll tell him he's looking a bit peeky to me.  |
