Well waddya know. The folks at WU have repeatedly stated that the control number isn't needed to pick up a payment, and they've done it in print and on line. Then I see this...

So maybe the lads DO need those magical digits after all. That doesn't mean they'll get 'em of course, and I have no intention of sharing this material with any lads... not unless I can get it modified for them anyway!

Obi, where did you find that? It says "if you are sending money to be picked up in Canada" so I think it may only apply there. I haven't checked the WU site, though, cos I'm heading for work soon.

Well I found it at a MoneyMart (independent, licenced by WU) office in Waterloo Ontario. I've previously verified that WU's rules and procedures will vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so it's hard to say. I'm currently trying to get a dialogue going with WU head office, but that's not as easy as it sounds - they keep replying with form-letters and links to their online FAQ's.

I suppose it's possible that lads DO need that control number in order to pick up their payments, but that won't really change anything for us. I'm sticking with the "we don't need no steenking control numbers" rant with my lads.

Or of course hours of fun making up numbers that are either 1 digit too short or sending those forms filled in with a blunt pencil for them to read !

From experience, western union in the middle east asks for a MTCN, without that they cannot see/find the transactions.... (so they say)

What would be really cool (for me): To be able to change the date on the image to the current date-- So that this will appear to be "late breaking news" to the lads. Any chance of an editable pdf perhaps? (If I had time, I'd learn to use gimp. Sigh)
