I've got one really off tracking report, the mail has apparently been read on:
Wednesday, Dec, 31, 1969, 6:59:59PM then normal IP addy
It gives four counts of the mail being opened at that particular time. Does anyone have any idea why a date almost 40 years ago comes up?
The other tracking reports for that particular e-mail are normal with today's date. |

Could it be that he's using an internet cafe and one of the machines he uses has a dodgy battery? So whenever it gets switched off, the date and time reset themselves? The fact it's set on 31st Dec seems to support this. |

The email seems to have passed through a server showing the wrong time. Unix machines use dates starting at 1st Jan 1970, and revert to that date if there's a problem such as a failed CMOS battery. Very close to this timestamp.
Edit: I didn't read the question properly. As others have said, it's a problem with the lad's computer. |

^^^Interesting - if that's true, something like that might explain why I sometimes get scam emails with the date 01-01-1970. |
