My workmate got scammed

I was meant to post this weeks ago but forgot. Obi Wan's thread reminded me to put this up - see Obi's thread here http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141182

Unfortunately, I could not do likewise. I work with a group of 11 other people and one of them is a 25 year old girl called Debbie. Debs is a lovely girl who wouldnt wish harm on the most evil person.

She put up a ring for sale on ebay to raise money for decorating her new home and got a buyer in Nigeria. Because she is so innocent, she just sent it without payment first.

Problem was, Debs didnt know what I done in my spare time as I never discuss it at work. its not that I keep it a secret, but I never figured that anyone I know could get scammed.

The amount she lost wasnt a great deal in comparison to some (£55) but I was still furious. I just wish I had of brought it up that I bait these scumbags and maybe she might of had second thoughts.

Do you think we could get an email address to see if we can bait him? I know there's not much point in baiting an ebay scammer, but perhaps if he uses the email address for 419 related or other scams we could have a go.

Although I do not bait from work my co-workers know that I bait scammers. Too often on my breaks I am sitting in front of the computer laughing at the baits posted here. They all ask about updates on the Swedish Chef.

I talk openly about scammers with my library patrons who are senior citizens who are getting a computer for the first time. I would rather educate them about the evils of the internet as well as the benefits.

I am so sorry that your co-worker got taken.

^^^ me too chibuike. As I said, it isnt that I kept my baiting a secret, but rather I never brought it up. It just never came into conversation and I never thought about starting a canversatin about it, it was just out of my mind.

I asked her about any email details today and she said she didnt use her ebay account as she doesnt have one, and so used her dads account. She is going to ask him if he has anything we can go off

I'll be sure to post anything we can use to give this lad hell.

Note : she added that her dad reported it to ebay and apparently they couldnt possibly have been any less interested. can you believe that ?

Ebay does warn sellers not to send merchandise until payment is received. And they have less of a snowball's chance in in h*ll of doing anything about the scammers than LEOs, sadly Crying or Very sad
