1065025830 and within 24 hours the site was closed.

On May 3, 2008 I submitted a report notifying Microsoft Office Live of the 2nd version of this site (http://urbanapartmentowners.org) MSOL opened a Support Ticket Number:

I recently discovered these scammers have reopened their fraudulant site under 2 new but substantially similar domain names: usapartmentowners.net and usapartmentowners.com
While the content is very slightly different, much of it is the same as the original fraud sites. The site usapartmentowners.net has been reported to its host, Microsoft Office

Live.

THIS SITE APPEARS TO BE FRAUDULANT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

Registration information is suspect where www.helitsl.com appears to be a sham site, with only a home page while offering the appearance of a substantial site/business

1) This site palgiarizes content from other ligitimate business sites - making false representations.

2) Bios of principals use details lilfted from bios on http://www.rflaw.net/ (usapartmentowners.net only)

3) Members listed on MEMBERS SITE are directly lifted from http://www.richmondapartmentowners.com/sites.htm

4) The headquarters address: 1471-1477 Kenny Road Suite #180 Columbus, OH 43212 is actually buildings that are residential apartments for rent to Ohio State University Students.

7) The site mentions Terms and Conditions and a Privacy Policy but has neither.

Now that you're registered, why don't you pull up an addy and help us turn the tables on this guy? It's actually quite fun - and keeps folks that will come after your from losing money too.

UPDATE - Yep, pretty sure it's him. I went to your link, grabbed the phone number, Googled it and responded to an ad on another site that has the same phone. Got his first response today. This will be my 3rd go around with him.

After receiving an E-mail saying that he is a trustable I was transferring $ 2200 through Wester Union to the "owner". After he was asking for a second payment I was irritated and had a two weeks lasting E-Mail contact with the person until today I found this forum.

urbanapartmentowners has scammed me...around $2000. I have realized that it was a scam when I have arrived to New York and I have not been able to find the apatment that "Travis Roberts" (the "owner") wrote in the contract - I have spent 4 hours looking for it.
I have cried my eyes out because I didn'tknow what to do, it was 8pm and I didn't have any room for tonight (because that has happend today).
Finally, just a few minutes ago,I have found a "cheap" hotel to spend the night...
I am quite desperate, because I don't know what to do. Tomorrow I am going to report this to the police, but I don'tknow whether it will resolve something or not...
Please, could you suggest me what to do?

I'm sorry that you were stolen from and you both should file police reports- other than that there really isn't anything else that realistically can be done, and almost no chance that you will recover your money.

At some point in the future you may get emails from somebody claiming to be law enforcement or from a government agency- these people will offer to recover the money stolen from you- don't believe them. It will just be another scam, and most likely ran by the same person(s) who stole from you this time.
