As you probably know, Mozilla realeased the latest version of Firefox - Version 3 yesterday evening (BST). I managed to download it this morning after a few attempts, due to what I imagine to be the sheer amount of traffic to the site.

It's tremendous. One of the great features is that it will verify for you those sites which are approved by Verisign. No longer do you need to rely on the little lock icon (which can be spoofed). Anyway, I've been running the Beta V3 for a few weeks now with nary a problem.

I installed RC1 a while ago, and behold! It's magically changed into the real 3.0 version!

Too bad there are still some lunatics out there creating web sites only readable with IE. Rolling Eyes

If it just stops my PC crashing when it blocks a dodgy popup (see separate thread - I've noticed that the reboots are always when on sites with dodgy popups like crash.net) I'll be very happy.

I shall be upgrading later today, then, thanks for the heads up.

So far so good, all my bookmarks and PW's were saved. Seems to run faster as well. But then I've just had sugary stuff.

It does run faster, and when you type into the address bar it shows you the website before you go to it.. sorta..

I kinda like it, its nice... kinda reminds me of windows though..

They just keep building onto it until it becomes one giant piece of shit (vista)

Although this runs faster, it still isn't spectacular

I am playing with it and have noticed improved speed and less memory usage.

@mazda, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848 and keep them on a external HD or CD, it makes replacing them a snap.

Just downloaded it on my Windoze machine at the office. It rocks. Very nice indeed.
I'll download the Mac version for my machine at home later today.

Mine transferred over no problem and the Mozilla release notes promised that. Personally, I would sue, them, not me Very Happy

I noticed the improved speed as well. No problems so far.

I've been using the beta for a few weeks. The only issue I had was the fact the 2 addons I use the most didn't work with v3, but it took maybe a fortnight for new versions to be released that did work with it.

Installed and looking good, pw's and bookmarks have survived intact. The acid test is will my PC still crash?

Got FF3 and it is faster. Some of my add on's didn't survive as they weren't compatible. Google toolbar, and another that lets you copy a video file to name a few. Oh, and the AVG 8 toolbar was shot down. Maybe later. All my pws and bookmarks are there. Basically, it seems about the same as FF2 except is a little faster.
Just noticed-it changed the order of my numerous gmail accounts.

No problems here either, other than a few add-ons not surviving. I noticed the re-shuffling of the g-mail accounts also.

Yeah, it's working pretty fast on my PC - good stuff.

Most of my favorite add-ons are toast for the time being, but oh well. Maybe their developers will update soon. Smile

Ooh, Youtube looks really cool with Firefox 3. At least I think it's because of Firefox 3. Unless Youtube had a update. Confused

Some goodies came out these days: Firefox 3.0 and openSuse Linux 11.0.
As far I have DL'ed and installed FF3 for M$ Window$. DL'ed openSuse, and tomorrow I'll install it. Switch again my Linux from Slackware 12.0 to openSuse 11.0. Can't wait for a new version of Pidgin too. The actual one (2.4.2) has some annoying bugs, like memory leaching and impossibility to use an avatar.
