So... my friend actually came up with this idea - since he knows I scambait, and have a fake number I route the scammers to, he had this idea.
Like, he thought that perhaps we could set up a premium rate line - one of those phone numbers that you have to pay a whole ton to call, and a lot of the money goes to the people running it (aka, us). So I was just wondering if it's possible to set up such a premium rate line without any data being set up that's traceable to me - and if it's legal/ethical to direct scammers to call it.
Anyone know anything on this? |

there have been many threads on this topic (and related "can I get a lad to dial a really expensive number"), and general consensus is that lads won't do it. Very often this is because they will be dialling from a different country, and it will not even be possible for them to connect to the premium number.
Is it ethical? yes to some, no to some others, maybe to others.
Is it legal? Depends on the laws where you live. |

This is an interesting idea though, i've just sent an email to a company who run these sorts of things asking if its possible. |

That just isn't going to happen.
Apart from the practicalities, 419Eater does not condone extracting cash for gain even from scammers.
Your idea will get no support here.

Long Answer: NO because there is no International Interconnect agreement.
