I think I've seen that model of boat before. They used to be very popular in the US.....IN FRONT OF SHOPPING CENTERS AND YOU PUT A COIN IN A SLOT TO GIVE THE KIDDIES A RIDE!

So all we need to do now is get the boat down the slipway, no worries, the sick crew member has turned up (Eater member Space), not sure if he's hung over or still pissed up, either way i wish he had stayed at home for reasons that will be revealed later.

Left hand down, i mean right, i mean i haven't got a clue what i'm talking about.

After about 20 minutes we decide most sailors unhook the trailer and push it down the slip manually, we can hook the car to it when it's closer to the water.

After about half hour and an emotional scene, GOB (Girlfriend of Bomb) threatening to beat the crap out of Space over the difference between left and right, we finally get to the water. (notice missing wing mirror, now wish i'd got that fixed)

At this point i have no idea why Space suddenly felt the urge to jump on the boat and break the windscreen.

It turns out that he was wearing he new, white Bobby Dazzlers and didn't want to get them wet. (notice the angle of the boat, we found a hole and nearly flipped the whole bloody lot)

However SUCCESS, we were in and it was floating happy crowd

So where was Space to celebrate a successful launch?, thats right, still hanging on the back of the car like a big girl trying to keep his feet dry.

Now all we have to do is all jump on board, start the engine and and make our way across the lake.
Avast behind!!!

Maybe it was the long journey or maybe i had messed up the fuel mix (it was complicated) but that engine really didn't want to play, after a while of trying to get it running properly i passed on the duty of rip cord pulling to unable seaman Space who on his second attempt managed to completely rip the cord out of the engine, there are no pictures of the following scenes as able sea person GOB was almost thrown from the boat in the chaos.
Luckily enough i had brought some tools for such an event, unluckily i have about as much mechanical knowledge and skill as a house brick so we set about fixing the engine.

With bits of engine now all over the boat i realised that i wasn't indeed a mechanic and took a moment to collect my thoughts (and stare stupidly at the broken engine).

With bits of engine now all over the boat Space realised that he wasn't indeed a Seaman and took a moment to become sea sick.

So it seemed we had come all this way to fail at the last hurdle, all that stood between us and success was 500 metres of open water.

At this point as Captain of the vessel i felt it my duty to take over the camera as our camera person of the day had other things she could be getting on with.

Just a little snap i took as my crew of 1 (Space had gone home feeling sick by this time) got us across the lake.

It was getting dark by the time we docked however the good ship Risky Free had reach her destination even if only a couple of metres of it were done under her own steam and i had learned a valuable lesson in life..............

........... Don't buy a dodgy Ebay motor

women are considered bad luck, and having a woman on board a ship when it was at sea would anger the sea gods, bringing on horrible weather, rough water and faliure of a cheap E-BAY motor. In some cases women who were on board ships were even tossed over board in order to attempt an appeasement of the gods
This i Believe was our downfall and Bombadiers GF should be ceremoniously cast adrift on a burning peice of drift wood, Viking style.

Bombardier heres a stoopid question, but didn't you test the motor first before you even thought of putting it in the water? but it does like a nice vessel, maybe because of the ebay motor you'll have to rename it the 50% risky free. Laughing

Didn't even know that type of brand existed. Never seen a vessel with an Ebay outboard motor. Mostly Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha .. Laughing

The engine was running great before i left home however i do have a little confession to make, i couldn't remember if the breather valve on the fuel tank was to be open or closed so i went with closed which i think was probably wrong Embarassed

The Yamaha is going to the boat shop on Wednesday to be put back together and i am working on a very old Evinrude 6hp motor that was also an fleabay bargain so by the end of the week we will have some pictures of the Risky Free crossing the lake and maybe even entering the river under her own steam.

Bombadier - Keep in mind that YW had a trunk box full of money, floating in the tides off Nigeria about 18 months ago. . . with prevailing winds and currents, it should be in your neck of the woods right about .. . NOW.

I thought you'd written something about a german driver's license for boats
somewhere but I can't seem to find it right now. Anyways, you don't need a
license when your engine has less than 6 hp (if you didn't already know
that), you are however required to get a license plate, which is a one time
fee of about 20 euros (payable by western union Wink

).
