2 1/2 months of baiting this lad and this morning i recieve this;

If you close down a scammer account not only do you spoil baits, as above, but you also cause NO inconvenience to the scammer whatsoever.

For an ordinary person, yes it is a bugger to have an e-mail account closed down. But a scammer will have dozens, if not hundreds of accounts and separate lists of victims on the go.

M_G above, has put in a little effort into this (based on the 2 1/2 month duration he / she must have being doing something right) and is screwed for wasting more scammer time.

Is there an ironic smiley for 'well done'?

That warning message looks like the sender was barred for trying to send spam as opposed to the account being closed down. Have you tried sending a 'normal' message to see if that gets through?

Another thought is that if it is an account in conjunction with Live! then it might be that he had a web site shut down and they took the e-mail with it.

It could also be that you've been barred by a policy restriction. Try from another account provider as well, just to check first.

There's also a fair chance he'll contact you from a fresh mail account if he thinks your character is interesting enough .. Won't be the first one they've got closed down, but you're right: don't fry the lad's mailboxes! It disturbs the baits, and not much is gained as Dionysius explained.

funny that it would bounce me after nearly 100 emails. sent from a different account, no bounce.

Mewing : if you have a good bait going it is a good policy to tell your mugu to keep your account written in a safe place.
This way if the account get closed, he will have your addy Wink

Also - if he has ever quoted his phone number to you, you could try google searching for it. I have used it to track down other formats that a Lad is using.

It's worth a long shot if you want the bait to continue and are impatient to hook up with him again, but don't tell him how you did it. We don't want any Lads using our tricks. Wink

Do you have the addy of a Barrister, Lawyer, Security Company, etc?
Thats the same lad and in that way you can keep writing.

Keep in mind that we aren't the only ones involved in baiting. Some other sites promote closing accounts. Some people do it independently. Some lads are careless and the provider closes them down. Everyone at eater knows about closing accounts, so as far as it may be to accept, it will continue. You just have to accept it as part of the game.

I do a lot of ASEM baiting
I get my lads addy's from the various 419 sites
but the percentage of 1st bounces is increaseing up to 45%
and is becoming a pain
there are a lot of people closeing down lads addys real fast
its almost like yahoo and hotmail read the sites and auto close those listed addys down.

If you can ask the lad to setup a seperate account just for you
I even ask them to put a special code in the sbject line so I know its from them, sort of makes them feel important

now i filter out addys that have yahoo and hotmail, it does reduce the number of active addys to try.

HUH funny ist it me complaining that lads addys have been shut down Razz

Almost lost the Morris lads a year or so ago due to their yahoo getting hit, fortunatly they re-conacted me through another account which gave me endless hours of fun getting them to prove their identity Laughing

But shutting lads down is bad.
