Web scam drove student to suicide.

An inquest has been told how a university student killed herself after falling victim to an internet scam.

Jaiyue Wang, 23, gave more than �6,000 in the belief she had won half a million pounds in a lottery after being contacted over the internet.

She arrived in Britain last summer from Hainan in China to study at the University of Nottingham.

Recording a suicide verdict, Nottingham coroner Dr Nigel Chapman said her death, in April, was a tragedy.

Vulnerable woman

He said: "A young university student - doesn't speak very much English, her parents don't speak English - been coming across to one of the great universities but has taken her own life because of a scam from Nigeria."

Ms Wang was found hanged at her home in Beeston last month.

Jonathan Ray, a University of Nottingham spokesman, said: "Obviously anybody who hears this story will just feel that it's a despicable exploitation of a vulnerable person whatever their status or location in life.

"It's just deeply sad that the young woman was so badly hit by what happened to her just before Christmas."

there is no hell bad enuff for scum that cause things like this to happen. if it wasnt wrong I would put up a prize for the first bait to get a lad to off himself.. but that would just lower ourselves to their level. I will say a prayer for the girls family.

This is a really sad story. I cannot imagine how bad this young woman must have felt. I feel really bad for her family.

I would never intentionally try to get a lad to off himself. But if one did, as a result of a bait, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. He didn't lose all of his money and get stranded in a desperate situation because we baited him. He did so because he chose to participate in criminal activity.

Re-reading my original post, it concerns me that someone might think I was just going for a gag. Apologies if anyone did. I wasn't trying to be flippant on such a serious subject.

Death really is too good for these people. I would see them writhing in eternal torment and pain for what they did to that girl and her family.

I'm personally sick of seeing ethics threads questioning out motives and whether or not what we do to lads (or have them do) is "ethical".. Mad

I don't know what could happen to the lads that caused that before I start to feel sorry for them.

They won't know she's dead, so I suppose there'll be an EFCC format dropping into her e-mail account any time soon.

This is really sad. I feel for her family, and whoever else she left behind. Even if it's not the lads that did this to her, we'll make someone pay for this.

The only thing that cheers me up, is thinking the lad that scammed this poor girl is on a safari by one of these fantastic members of this forum.

As I recall,a couple weeks ago someone was doing a project,and wanted to know "the real motivation of this group",not just protecting innocent people.Hope he is reading this now.

It's a tragedy. But the main lesson is that the lad who pulled this scam is laughing his arse off thinking that a maga (lad speak for idiot victim) paid him �6000. The only regret the lad will have is that this maga will not be paying him more.

Let anyone who doubt that the Abeche safari is not harsh enough read this story and for once think of the damage that the lads do to victims. If you don't agree with the morals of really hurting the lads, express your opinions by all means, but do not be surprised by the reaction of others here.

The lads are true scum on whom any sympathy is wasted and view sympathy and human decency as a means of milking money from their victims.

I was telling Mrs. Krona about the safari to Chad, and she said something along the lines of "but you guys could be sending someone to his death".

Then I showed her this thread and reminded her of what she said.

Wrong. To a scammer, it means a hell of a lot. It's the end of the gravy train, which is all they give a shit about.

Her family? Her friends? Her life? Everyone who is left behind? None of that means jack shit to a lad. All he cares about is that he can't milk her for that one last fee; can't run a recovery scam to get her even further in debt so he can buy a rowing machine or big screen TV.
