As I sit here and ponder... RL stuff

Well this is a dual post about some RL stuff and and tribute to the guy who made me into what I am today. Unfortunately my baiting time is cut substantially by this expensive habit known as education. Rough road but nothing that can't be dealt with. However, family issues are another thing:

As of a week ago my dad was hit by a passenger van while riding his motorcycle to work. The lucky guy got hit right in front of a hospital and sustained what appeared to be minimal injuries. Being the typical LEO dad of a proud Protestant Scots-Irish family he told me to stay in school (I could hear him from the hospital bed while talking to my mom over our cellulars!) and not let down the Protestant work ethic. He's a very tough guy, and he's also very good at playing the part... kind of a good thing as I was the typical trouble maker cops kid in the teen years. He's a very good man that never gave up on me despite the fact that I was a load of trouble. He's the kind of dad that could teach you life lessons in seconds that you'll take with you to the grave...

Then comes today. I was heading home tomorrow, and called my mom to tell her that I was headed back tomorrow as I needed to sleep off a reinforced concrete lab. Couldn't get a hold of her so I called the sister to find out he's back in the hospital for some still unknown reason. I booked it so fast out of that concrete lab that the teacher didn't even have time to tell me that the late homework assignment would be ok... in fact I just told him the circumstances and that the homework would be late and walked out. Drove back home, made it here at midnight. So long story short... I will be spending my free time on the weekends driving home.

I will miss you guys, and will definitely be back when this is all over. You'll probably see me on skype from time to time as usual.

Take care FA, and I hope that everything works out soon. I'm glad to hear that your dad is okay, he was very lucky. If you get a chance to pop in once in awhile, we would like to know how you are doing. Cool

No worries, FA. Take care of your RL and we will be waiting when you get back. Hope you can pop in from time to time and let us know how your Dad is getting on.

Best wishes to your dad and family and of course yourself.
Remember to get rest when you can, eat well to keep your strenghth up and use bottles of water , the warmth of hospitals is so dehydrating.

Update: Got home and found out the doctor administering anesthesia about OD'd my dad because the doc wanted to make sure he was off work on time. Evil or Very Mad

It was interesting watching a very looped up dad for a few days. Managed to help around the house for a couple of days, then realized that it will be a few months before the dad is better. So it looks like my "fun" time will be cut biweekly on the road trips to help the family.

So I will be around, just not in two weeks! Thank you all for the support, I'll keep this thread updated if anything new happens.

Yeah - family comes first. Your dad sounds like a great bloke so enjoy some time with him without other distractions. We'll still be here when you get back.
