A 28 year old friend of mine did not have a key to his flat that he moved into that week. His girlfriend was asleep and did not hear him knocking. James three stories up tried to jump from a fire stair to his balcony.
Major head injury.
After two weeks in a coma he was turned off at sundown.
He was in my books an achiever, an adventurer, a future leader.
Also an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist.
A mentor to my young son. He was a fantastic young man

no need to reply all, I just needed to scream somewhere.
He really was a really great person and friend.

, terrible way to go, I lost a cousin in very similar circumstances, only he had been in a row with his girlfriend in the early hours of the morning, so he went back to his own place, but had apparently left his keys at the girlfriends house, and rather than go back to get them, he decided to climb up to his window instead, he fell and was impaled on the railings below, a passer by found him, he was still alive, but he died later that day in hospital.

Just a real waste of life, sorry to hear that and sorry to your family as well SP, thing is it's something that us older guys here can really relate to as we have all done something daft along them lines in the past. just really tragic when doing what guys do ends like this Sad

Thanks everyone, it has been very heavy few days. Funeral is Tuesday and I am sure we will shed a few tears and celebrate his life with a beer or two.

SP sounds like your cousin was very much in the same boat.
A reckless waste of life all for the sake of a $2 key.
