Which peices of software you use?

Leaving OS's aside, which peices of software do you use frequently?
For example, me meself and I use the following:
Firefox - is a must Very Happy

Total Commander - is a must
IrfanView and GIMP - for picture viewing and photochopping.
GonVisor - especially for comics, although it can be used as a stand alone picture viewer.
OpenOffice - for those jobs that nobody likes but must be done
Winamp, Media Player Classic and VLC - for music & movies
7zip - a very good archiver
Adobe Reader and Microsoft Reader - for .pdf and .lit
Pidgin - instant messenging
Azureus and eMule - Wink

everybody knows what are those good for
Celestia - nice to have
DOSBox - for those great games that do not like modern OS

And various other emulators for old computers and game consoles. (I would like to enumerate them but the list would be too long) Wink

And these are just for Windows XP. The Linux list would be even longer.

I like firefox with spellchecker. It shows that the correct spelling is pieces not peices. 'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.

^^ notepad2... I like EditPad, but Notpad2 I can carry on the USB, no need to install, and it is has syntax schemes...

Basically Portable Apps are you friend. Wherever I go, I have my browser (FF) and a nice set of tools and apps...

I know the correct spelling is "pieces", but sometimes I feel an urge to butcherize english.
Otherwise, I consider myself quite fluent in english, as it is not my 1st language.

Thx for the Audacity tip. Until now I used Nero Wave Editor (comes with that bloatware Nero Ultra Edition) or Soundforge Confused

umm... let's say pirated.
I like to use freeware alternatives whenever is possible.

Yes, it's i before e except after C and in neighbor and weigh. Also seizure, forfeiture, surveillance, their, and many others Smile

I had a list of about 20 words but I lost them.

I use IE8, IE7, Firefox, dreamweaver, ws ftp, excel, word, ms paint, jasc paintshop pro 9, safari for windows, Visual C++ and visual studio 6 & .net
devc++, spybot search and destroy, ccleaner, regcleaner, hijackthis, kaspersky, with a plugin for trendhousecall, installshield, and many self written programs that make me life much easier.

I agree notepad2 is better than notepad but for my programming i use simply kwrite for windows.

Xnews - best free Usenet reader ever.

Carrara 6 Pro, Zbrush 3.1, Poser 6, Vue 6 XStream - 3d modelling things

Paint Shop Pro 7 - it's a free version that keeps on giving me a 90-day trial. I learned my 2d skills on a very early PSP and I've stuck with it through the years

uTorrent 1.7.x - yes

WinAmp 5 - I have all of my CDs filling up one HD and it's great to load the entire playlist, hit "shuffle" and be pleasantly surprised at what comes up next, often something I haven't heard for many years

FreeRip - vital for the above program

MS Office 2003 - :shrug: We all have our crosses to bear. I do have OpenOffice installed, but I still revert to MS when push comes to shove

7Zip - one of the best archivers I've ever used, especially for browsing archives

Kompozer - open source WYSIWYG HTML editor. Good for quick webpage development

Bluefish - for PHP
Ekiga - to call my family and my lads
Skype - for the Eater-chat
Konqueror - for the web
Firefox - for some sites, like baiting-stuff
Wireshark - to record my Ekiga-calls and to check out traffic
nMap - Portscans
Nessus - Security-scans
Gimp - mostly to scale pics
InkScape - for things like stamps and other some stuff that makes lads happy
KOffice, OpenOffice - for office-stuff (wow!)
Xen, KVM - for virtualization
Kopete - instant messaging
GNUCash - to manage all the money I get from lottery-wins and from helping orphans (and the little amount I get from my boss for my work)
Blender - for extremely bad 3D-stuff (it's my fault, not Blender's!)
Celestia, Stellarium, KStars and XEphem - for space-related stuff
Hugin - to stitch photos to panoramas
Kino - for DV-stuff
Bash - for system-work (yes, I use the shell quite a lot)
joe - to create and edit files in the shell (I don't like vi)

And yes, I use all of those programs, and probably some more, frequently.

Firefox - but it seems to freeze on UBUTNU LINUX a lot Laughing

I really don't do anything that I can't do on Firefox.
