Hi,

A few months ago, my domain was cancelled by an online company called 'www.gisol.com'. Up to then, I had been happy with their service. They didnt bother to tell me why they cancelled it. Never mind, I thought. So I stupidly purchased another domain from them and paid them through Paypal. Days went by and still no emails about the reg details for the new domain. I emailed (x5) still no answer. I tried live chat, they just said email [email protected]. I kept trying. Finally, I raised a complaint with Paypal. Gisol could not have fulfilled the order because a few weeks after filing the order with them, I went ahead and bought it through nominet and pipex instead. There is no way they can supply the domain I have paid for. Paypal deliberated and finally cancelled the claim on the basis that the goods were 'virtual' despite aparently never receiving a reply from Gisol either. Everytime I speak to an online agent, they just tell me to either email admin/[email protected] or call 323-924-1109 (9-5 pst). I cannot call them because when I try, the number isnt recognised. They dont respond to my emails. Paypal have washed their hands of the problem. I just dont know what the hell to do next. Any body have any ideas?

P.S - will pay any cost involved to anyone who can help me recover my $200(�100)

, I have no solution though and I'm not in the USA.
Nasty problem you got there, all I can come up with is deduct it from your taxes, at least you'll see something back

This is really bad. A lot of the victims have been taken for $1700. I know that you are tempted to use your baiting powers to send fake checks to the address on Santa Monica Blvd or have your scammers call up these bums, but I suggest that you do not.

Write a letter to Jerry Brown, Jr., or his minion that is already aware of this company. Tell him you are on global forums and will post up his response. Your international letter may carry more weight than just another ripped off Joe.

Hey all,

I never left, I was just lurking. I didnt have anything much to say and life did get in the way allot. Sorry Bill, our tax system doesnt work like that. There is no way to 'claim' it from the government. If it were for a company here, I would lodge a 'small claim' with the civil court for the money, but I cannot do that from here, I dont even know if the USA has the equivalent of a small claims court?

Anyway, thanks for the answers. I had no idea they even had a website devoted to stories. I feel so much better about my $200 now. Glad it wasnt $1700.

Connie, I had no intention of 'baiting' them although late last night I promised to spam their servers into submission if something wasnt done. No, I was just looking for someone who could ring them on my behalf in the states and shout loudly at them for me. I didnt know they had such a reputation and just thought this was some sort of 'language' barrier problem rather than a scam. I still am if anyone is interested. Sort of a last ditch attempt before I give up completely. I will send the international letter. Thanks for the tip, though I doubt it will do anything. I think I'll also enquire about chargebacks etc. I cannot seem to call them myself, the number is 'not recognised' by my telephone provider even using the international code 0011, I've never called interntionally before so I have no idea if I'm even dialing the right number.

Any other suggestions?

From a mobile phone you could do the same, or use +1-323-924-1109

@Firewyrm, sorry to hear about the crap they doing to you. Yes, the US does have a small claims court. You can try this site for some help w/ the California small claims system. http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/smallclaims/. I haven't checked it out yet, but it should have some helpful info.

Sad to hear. Equally sad however is that it's not worth your time, energy or money to file a claim in small claims court. The most important issue is that you're across the pond. You'd pay more for a plane ticket than you could possibly win.

A complaint to the AG's office, or the BBB might be a good place to start -- however the AG won't be too sympathetic given that you are not a CA resident.

I think this has to be chalked up to a learning experience. Confused

Ha.

I have tried contacting them and judging by an email received this morning (the first in over 15 emails sent) I am starting to think that you are right.

I sent a very polite email stating the problem and advising them that they should answer my enquiries or I would be forced to begin the legal process (an empty promise admittedly but I am annoyed) and they sent back an answer advising me to keep them informed of what the courts say!!

These are not the actions of a legitimate company and therefore I think they are fair game for any type of harrassment I can visit upon them. I will send the letters to the bodies you suggest but I think I am going to start annoying them!
