Subject: The Will Of Pope John Paul II For The Needy
Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 06:31:37 -0400
ATTENTION,
I sincerely write to seek your co-operation and trust to enable me
carry out an urgent business Opportunity in my department.
I am contacting you based on the fact that you are an older person and
a senior citizen of your country who will have due respect and
reverence for the things of God and be trutful to discharge this duty with
dignity and integrity.
I am Miss K3lly L. L1ly and I work with the 0C3AN1C B4NK PLC, currently
I am in charge of bills and exchange at the foreign remittance
department of my bank. I was the account officer to Pope John Paul 2 who died
on 2 April 2005.You can view this CNN website for details on the death
of Pope J0hn Paul II on the 2nd of April, 2005:-
www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2005/pope
He left in his domiciliary account the total sum of $25,000,000(twenty
five million dollars) which he left for the needy and also for the
helping of some churches and also feeding of the poor. But unfortunately we
have not seen any body to claim the money.Rev.fr.james blank is the
only person who knows about this apart from the bank. The management of
the bank have planned to embezzle the money since there is no one to
claim the money. On this note, I now decided to give you the money so that
you can give it to the needy. I will soon proceed for my retirement
leave, and I personally do not want this fund to be lost to the bank. That
is why I wanted the fund to be move out of the bank before I proceed
on my retirement from the banking services.I have decided that you take
all the money and deliver it to the needy and
some to churches, am a very good Christian and will not watch the bank
embezzle the money belonging to the needy, it is not a good idea and I
cant involve my self in that kind of evil plan.
To enable the immediate transfer of the fund into your nominated
account, you would have to fill the bank application form for such claim as
the next of kin to the deceased. There you will designate your bank
account where the money will be remitted. Upon receipt of your mail
indicating your interest, I will send to you a copy of the application form and
the Account/ Deceased information you would need to fill it.Send your
direct Fax and telephone numbers for effective communication that this
transaction needs. And also if you help you will get 30% of the money as
your reward to your good work.
Please note that you may appear in person if you like, as every thing
regarding this project will be strictly handled by a lawyer and every
banking documents needed for this transaction will be taken care of by
lawyer.
Please send your response to xxxxxxx
Please try and see that the money lives the bank.
Yours Faithfully,
Ms, L1s4 L1LY |

Ms L1s4 K3lly,
I am recently retired as you already know and have
been very active in my church after retirement. This
money could help so many people. I look forward to
helping spread the money to feed the poor people. I
have prayed for a sign for our food shortage at the
food bank! You seem to have answered this prayer.
Please respond as soon as possible to get the funds
transered to me or the account of my church.
Sincerely,
J. M3h0ff |

You are doing great so far. I see a potential here for extra fun. You could try asking for Father Blank's email address, as you would like to confirm with him that all this is indeed true.
BTW, many of us here use Gmail. It's free and has some excellent features that come in handy for baiting. eg, responder and signature, and it also masks your IP address. |

Good start, StateCop. Some new baiters put too much information into their early messages but I think you have the balance just about right: you've introduced yourself briefly and showed that you're very eager to get this money.
It's still too early to give you any kind of specific suggestions*, but one good approach is to play along with them for a bit to see for yourself just how they work the deal. It's also good to think of scammers as disposable; if something goes wrong with one bait, you can always start a new one with someone else.
*My own personal approach might be to respond for a few messages in an extremely eager way, full of religious references etc. Also perhaps trying to chat with the scammer in a lonely-retired-person sort of way. And then express a teensy bit of doubt about the deal at some point. Scammers love to reassure their victims that the deal is legit, 100% risk free etc, and a bit of doubt or hesitancy is entirely expected. Once he's given me some kind of lame explanation, I accept it and move on. But this is just one of many possible ways to do it. |

Nah it is
read on down in the email...when you hit reply it sends to the above email. It has not bounced...yet anyway.
The above is just forged header basically. All they do is enter that as the disply email so it looks like it come from there. I didnt take time to trace the email headers to be honest though. |

I feel dumb. I'm new at this but my girl friend is a bit of a techie and I happen to have worked in a business for two years that was plagued with scammers of a different sort. I figure it would be fun for the both of us. I'm going to give it another try here.
How is this:

Mrs. Kelly,
This is a wonderful opportunity for my church. Our youth group was actually
in Vatican Square when our dear Pope died and we never got to meet him. This
money would be perfect for arranging a new trip to visit again and visit our new Vicar of Christ on Earth, Pope Benedict.
I had just prayed to St. Jude the other day for assistance because we thought we may never have another chance to go back and meet the Pope. I see he has answered our prayers.
Please contact me back so that our youth group may enjoy the gifts God has given us.

^^ Personally I liked your first draft a bit better. Try not to go too much into details on your first reply .. Act a bit surprised maybe .. slightly skeptical .. Let him do the efforts to convince you this is all real and legit... play it slow, and chose your modalities later on, after you've hooked him .. Good luck |

Yeah, sometimes I tend to be a bit longwinded and overly detailed. I'm going with the old, sometimes daft nun. However, it worked and this morning, I got this, different email address.

Thank you Sister Tracy Mary Bernadette
Dominican Flying Nuns.
I am glad that this fund is going to the children of God.which is why I started the search at the catholic information Institute.
You Sister Tracy Mary Bernadette will handle the transaction personaly. I do not want any other person to know about it yet until we have finished the legal documentation. The funds will come to your account and in your name. You will take out your the 30% as yours personally and the rest the will use for the congregation.
Now I want you to know that you can do it and I want you to keep communicating with me to get the transfer finalized as fast as possible. Every transaction will be legally documented and the a letter of authorization shall be sent to you from Rome also as soon as you accept to carry this responsibility.
Please Provide me with the following details so that I can send them to Vatican for their notification.
1.FULL NAMES
2.CONTACT ADDRESS
3.TELEPHONE NUMBER
4.AGE
5.MOBILE NUMBER
6.FAX NUMBER (IF ANY)
7. ANY COPY OF YOUR IDENTIFICATION.
As soon as I have these I shall send to you copies of the statement of account of the late pope and my passport copy.
I await your response.
Sincerely,
Lisa. |
I'm going to get back to "her" tonight. I think I can get out of the contact # and such. Worst case scenario I can refer her to my alter ego, the lawyer. |

Regarding the usalottoawards.com email address - it's also possible that this address was a fake domain registered for the purpose of sending emails (and making them look more legit). If that was the case, it may well have been that the provider killed this domain.
It's quite common for scammers to work this way - they know many of their "mailing out" addresses will get killed as people complain about them, so they have backups ready from the start. |

Dear Lisa,
I am a little confused since I am not used to doing money transactions. Being Catholic yourself, you know that many convents are, shall we say, primitive? We do have a computer in the church office that I do use from time to time. I do not have any real identification because I have never really needed one. Perhaps a photo would do?
Your sister in Christ,
Sister Tracy Mary Bernadette

Slowly working up my story, trying to slow her down. Personally, I'm the kind of person who responds to emails right away, so I have to learn to be my character, a slow, slightly senile nun. |

And the saga continues.

Ok then two pictures of you will do.Infact a recent picture will be alright. You do not need to worry about knowing money transactions or not. Our lawyer here will assist you to handle all the legal documentaqtion in your name. But you must be ready to make some little financial contributions for the legal documentation to meet up with the international regualtion on money transfer.
Also other details like.
1.FULL NAMES
2.CONTACT ADDRESS
3.TELEPHONE NUMBER
4.AGE
5.MOBILE NUMBER
6.FAX NUMBER (IF ANY)
I await your response.

Ok, I already told her once that I'm a nun, do nuns have cell phones these days? She obviously isn't listening that well but I did manage to pull her a little off script.
Sooooo, any suggestions? |

^^ How about answering the questions and sending her a few nun pics? :p
.. or just reply : "Thanks for the information. I'll try to get hold of some pics next week, they're in a shoe box somewhere in the convent. Where do I send them? " |

I sent her some nun pictures, elderly nun from a cloister in the US. Saved the file, renamed it and attached it.
I'm thinking I'm going to drag on the bank info as long as I can, haggle on the price of the fee, get senile and forget. When she gets frustrated, might slap her a little over the knuckles with a ruler. |
