You might be able to do a soundboard, but it'd be quite difficult.

People went brainstorming about this last year (see Massively complicated but awesome idea). No code was written, but those preliminary specs would be useful if anyone wants to try it.

A retired baiter calling himself Janne Pekkala apparently used to run some chatbots. His website has since disappeared... FarCry should be still around, he had a bot back in 2004 (see Testers needed for new bAIting bot).

I'm going to try whipping something up in emacs lisp. If I'm lucky I might have it working by the end of the day.

What should the name on the email account be? Lew Shrewd, or Daisy Glados?

I know about Pandora, but if work has already gone into writing custom AIML then I think I'll drop the Eliza plan and work with that instead. I'm going to design an email interface to it. I think there's a fundamental difference between an email bot and a chat bot. A bot that operates over email can be fully automated without first having to arrange a conversation with the lad. Furthermore, email's longer turnaround time means the lads will put more thought into each exchange, and therefore do more work before they realize that it's a bot.

This is going to be some stupid questions but what the hell is everyone talking about??? how does this work??? I went to pandora and would like to know what this does...

is it an auto generated email, mass email or what??? does it send the same email out a bunch of times or several emails to the same person???
I read one that said you could bait while doing other things???

AIML is a language for specifying the behavior of chatterbot AIs. The original implementation of AIML was called Alice and you interacted with it on a text terminal. Pandora is a web-based implementation that has a gateway for IM. I'm writing an email implementation.

The idea is that the AI receives emails from lads and automatically responds to them, keeping them busy until they figure out that they're talking to a bot, with no marginal effort on our part.

I've had plenty of lads waste hours with mycybertwin.com

It supports some customization. Takes about 30 min to make a decent maga and you get 100 chats per month for free.

I tried the 'mycybertwin', I got it to work on 2 guys, one of them twice for about 15 min of fun.
