A pop up promoting something called Carbon Copy turned up on my screen this morning. It pledges to create 100 millionaires in the short term. Haven't got to the bit where it tells how much this will cost.

Within 10 minuted of putting an email address into the Carbon Copy web page, I received this email.
I will see Gomer about recruiting them to spam Lotto Lads.

This scheme will certainly prevent US & Australia from sliding into recession.

I think you have tagged it pretty well. I wouldn't care to subscribe, but no doubt there are people who would claim that they have benefited greatly from such a program.
I have always been cynical of get rich quick schemes, and motivational speakers, as they have a habit of finishing up with the bulk of the money.

EDIT I have done a back track on testimonials, and their consequent testimonials. They all use a similar strategy. Many of my characters have signed up for various free courses, and received the mandatory email. If a real person at their end ever checks the email, they will wonder at some of the strange characters who enrolled tonight.

Last week I "joined" this outfit , using several characters. Since then, unlikely characters like Inspector Mouse and Captain Peacock, among others, have been receiving their daily email.
I now suggest that this is a Pyramid Scheme selling Marketing techniques, using Google ads, proliferous use of forums to harvest potential recruits. and the "products" they actually sell are in the Health and Nutrition, and Beauty aids sectors.
They appear to carry seller commissions of up to 70%.
The more people a "member" can recruit", the greater his "commission". Sound Familiar?

Yes, I guess Ponzi is the correct category. Thanks. Just for the record, the Australian Trade Practices Act has the following definition for Pyramid Selling. Our legislators certainly covered all bets.

What is a pyramid selling scheme?
(1) In this Act:

"pyramid selling scheme" means a scheme with both the following characteristics:

(a) to take part in the scheme, some or all new participants must make a payment (a participation payment ) to another participant or participants in the scheme;

(b) the participation payments are entirely or substantially induced by the prospect held out to new participants that they will be entitled to a payment (a recruitment payment ) in relation to the introduction to the scheme of further new participants.

(2) A scheme may be a pyramid selling scheme:

(a) no matter who holds out to new participants the prospect of entitlement to recruitment payments; and

(b) no matter who is to make recruitment payments to new participants; and

(c) no matter who is to make introductions to the scheme of further new participants.

(3) A scheme may be a pyramid selling scheme even if it has any or all of the following characteristics:

(a) the participation payments may (or must) be made after the new participants begin to take part in the scheme;

(b) making a participation payment is not the only requirement for taking part in the scheme;

(c) the holding out of the prospect of entitlement to recruitment payments does not give any new participant a legally enforceable right;

(d) arrangements for the scheme are not recorded in writing (whether entirely or partly);

(e) the scheme involves the marketing of goods or services (or both).
