as you can guess i am not having much joy with the old lap top at the moment.
my battery has now died,yes kaput.

has anyone got any sites/shops where they can recommend for me to purchase another from.

We did use an online site to buy batteries but I cant remember it. Not long deleted it from favourites
I'll go ask.
They were cheaper than the shops and seemed Ok re delivery

edit to say sorry cant find it, think they mostly did mobile phone batteries anyway

I can vouch for Ebatts.com. I bought a battery from them that lasted 10 months. They took it back and sent out a replacement. Most laptop batteries only last about 300 cycles so it was not a question of quality. Now I take them out and only put them in for mission critical work and buy a new laptop when the battery does die.

^^Don't forget that if you are sitting at the desk, plugged into the mains then take the battery out. This can increase its life too.

By removing the battery when I am on "mains power" (Plugged in the wall, for those on the wrong side of the pond.) I can get a laptop battery to last three or four years. A replacement battery can cost a third the price of a cheap laptop. At that point, I would rather be warranted, have a faster dual processor, larger and quicker hard drive along with the nicer screen of a new computer.
