As I was eating breakfast this morning I watched "Can't Stop the Music" movie about the Village People. I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or upchuck.  But I did get to do the YMCA dance.
Then I got to thinking of all the other movies/tv programs that centered around songs and or groups. Meaning the song came first and then they made the movie. Or, they created a group for the tv/movie production. I could come up with "You Light Up My Life" (Debbie Boone) and the Monkeys. Does anyone know of any others out there? |

I can think of several. At least 5 Beatles songs were turned into movies [Hard Day's Night, Help, Yellow Submarine, Magical Mystery Tour & Let It Be]. Also the Rolling Stones song "Gimme Shelter" from 1969 provided the title for their documentary-style movie released the following year.
EDIT: I'd also be fairly sure that quite a few Elvis Presley songs spawned movies with the same title. |

Oh...
I�m amazed no one has yet mentioned the recent hit "Across The Universe"... a musical filled with songs from The Beatles (about 40 songs), and the name of the movie is also the name of one of their songs. |

^^^ I loved ATU before it was hip! I remember Lennon once groused about George Martin (RIP  ) having layered in a female choral backup on the final version. Or, was that "The Long and Winding Road"? Anyway, those were the only 2 Beatles tunes with female voice tracks. |
