Doubtlessly, baiting entertains us all. But last days i have doubts about its effectiveness. How many percent of people who reply to lads are baiters ? 5 ? 10 ? Definitelly not enough, and it is still worth for lads to risk being baited, since the probability is not that high, and WU money from victims keep coming.

Has anyone though of some kind of synchronized baiting, huge groups of baiters torturing one lad in the same time ? I think that after this experience they would just fall off one by one, as they would think there are too many baiters and scamming is not going to work anymore...

What do you think ?

^^ What you decribe is a "Mass bait" which many members here already do. Why not try one yourself and see if you like it? Grab yourself a fun sounding lad, then invite everyone else to share the hilarity.
There is a middle ground too, pick someone you like and get along with, (or even 2 or 3 others) and ask them to join you on a joint bait. You can all play other characters and come at the lad from several angles.

As a few hundred baiters we're always fighting an uphill battle against many thousands of scammers, but that's our lot in life I'm afraid.

To answer some of the issues you've raised TheKnightWhoSaysNi

Are we effective ? - look at the death threats I have received below and that is only a very small percentage of what I get in on a daily basis, and Lads don't use valuable scamming time (internet cafe time costs them real money) sending them unless they are truly upset and angry.

Have you seen any of the Lads visiting here begging and pleading to be released from our grasp ? who are then subjected to a further dose of mental torture.

A Lad who is sent on safari is unlikely to be scamming anyone else.

A Lad who loses money to produce trophy pictures, on taxi rides (George I love you Very Happy

) or just plain humiliated is not the same scammer again, and that's only a small selection of the things we do to them, not including shutting down their scamming bank accounts, shutting down their fake websites and so on.

I have joined in some mass baits of single scammers who have been targetting charities, and their lives have been turned into a complete misery - so much so that I have not seen that type of scam in a long while.

At the monet I bait every Lotto Lad I can find - not because they are the worst type - but I feel that they may not receive the misery they deserve.

There will always be victims, as there will always be scammers, but I know I make a difference (sounds arrogant I know) but I am off work on long term sickness and can devote the time, and it's good therapy.

We act as a choke point, and if we didn't exist the field would be wide open for scammers to do their evil deeds. Acting together and sharing techniques and ideas each one of us can be more potent than a solitary Lad who works alone. so yes, we make a difference, but not as much as we would like due to the numbers.

In the past two days I have added 400+ Lotto Lads to my mass baiting script and the thought of the misery I will bring to them makes me smile.

In the Main Forum there is a lad called Joel who is being baited to death. I think he is going to be VERY disappointed as he joined an investment forum that was set up by baiters so he has no victims on his books from there and we are keeping him VERY busy.

Mass baits are great as you know you are causing pain but in the success rate of getting anything glorious out of it is low as using the same modality can get you dropped.

We aren't going to make a dent in the scamming community. But we can make life miserable for a few select lads.

Mass baiting can work, when done correctly.

I agree with all the replies here. Mass-baiting also hones your baiting skills to use on other lads. Other baiters contribute much knowledge and ideas, and invent new ones on the bait. It definitely increases the fun-factor, too. You should get in on one, and you'll see what we are talking about. I think sychronized baiting is one of the ways we all become more effective against the scammers. Smile

Just remember to try not to screw up a bait already in progress. Read what has already been done to the lad before you begin. Too many people asking him to hold signs will get him to twig......

^^ On the other hand, if there are 20 people mass-baiting a lad & every single one of them points to the New Sign Standard for security before sending the MTCN, he could become convinced that it really is standard procedure Cool

I think the growth and expansion of baiting in the past few years must have had a psychological effect on the lads, and (though it sounds a bit idealistic I know), may even be responsible for a downturn in the volume of this kind of scam given time.

Consider these two points:

1. Baiting has been directly responsible for many news stories about these kinds of scams. That increases awareness and makes it less likely for a potential victim to fall prey, and it increases pressure on international governments to crack down on these sorts of scammers.

2. It's obvious to me as a long-time fan of baiting, but as someone who has only recently begun to get involved, that almost every lad has become constantly conscious of the fact that their "victim" may in fact be playing them for a fool. Tricks that used to work every time are now enough to make just about any lad bolt. This wasn't always the case (and I use some old baits posted by Shiver and others as my proof). While some may argue that this simply makes them smarter about how they ask for money, I disagree - the psychological pressure from this must be huge, and could even be enough to make a lad who just can't get anything but baiters to reply to him find another way to make money.

While all of this may or may not be having a noticeable effect now, assume that the upward trend of people actively involved in baiting continues as it has for another 5 or 10 years. It is possible, in my humble opinion, that this sort of scam simply won't be considered a viable way for a criminally-minded person to make money anymore. The heartache and waste of resources involved, coupled with the inevitable increasing pressure of international law, will simply make it not worth the effort.

Again, call me idealistic or delusional if you must. But regardless, every scammer whose time is wasted, as Gomer said above, is a scammer who isn't stealing money from a victim - and that, coupled with the endless hilarity of seeing these lads vent their frustration on me or perform some humiliating act, is what got me into this and what will keep me going.

, which makes a twist in my story necessary which could pay out well, even better than the original idea. A bait is always a stage play in progress, and I definitely like these synchronized stories, with some signs of interaction, like "oh, you know him, too? We had a multi-million-dollar business in 1997".
