Email headers are probably forged, but here is a link to a SpamCop report: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z1667479793ze23a3bda3948b34fc45e7002502372eaz
The URL should give you an idea of where the spam-sending machine was; unfortunately it's probably a trojan-infested spambot on a dialup connection whose owner has absolutely no idea what is going on. The real place of origin of this message is most probably completely untraceable, a fact of which you will already be only too painfully aware!
I have recently received several of these; I think they are attempts to suck me into a money-laundering scam, for which I would be the patsy.
I received a similar email about 12 months ago and, after submitting it to a few other forums similar to this one, the consensus of opinion was that it is some kind of money-laundering scheme. Of course, the victim gives his banking details to the spammer/scammer, who uses them to lay a false trail. I can't quite remember how the transactions are carried out, but it is the spam/scam victim who is left "holding the baby," so to speak.
Anyway, I hope it's of some interest to you.
Best regards to all

Hello all,
I thought i might get my feet a bit wetter and try this one out. Seems quite interesting.
Anyone have a clue about this, or do you reckon its as ^ ^ he said.
The no setup fees is curious, i wonder if there will be any surprise costs.
Cheers |

There will be a request for money somewhere. The "Payment" that you receive your first week of employment will be a counterfeit check with instructions to cash it, keep your percentage, and wire the rest back to the scammer through Western Union. It's a typical employment scam. |

Might as well. You can actually have all kinds of fun with it and liven it up.
Moved thread to Main SB from Surplus Scam Letters - more appropriate. |

Not necessarily. Just wait until you explain that you lost his money at the dog track or spent it on methadone!
Only thing is you'll need a safe drop box to receive the check. That part is easy by signing up for a premium subscription (...and if you do, why not go the distance and get a lad t-shirt to boot?)
Welcome to Eater and have fun! |

Don't lose sight of the goal, to waste the lad's time. It's fun to collect trophies, feel the frustration in the emails, etc, but the real public service is in wasting their time so maybe one less dupe out there gets scammed out of his/her meager pension. Have fun, bait safe |

Have a good read through the 'very annoyed cheque lad' thread (your spam is a cheque lad), and see the pain the guy is going through, servicing dozens of baiters accounts, all of whom lose cheques, steal money, fail to understand simple instructions, get paranoid about the FBI, get dolla choppers jumping in, frankly one of the funniest threads I've read. The cheque lad must be going nuts wasting so much effort to be so lose to payday, but it never quite arrives... |

Wondered where this thread had got to.

@newdonym - Haven't bitten yet? How did you reply to the email? Something simple works best to get it going, like,"I'm a student now, but i have some free time at night. Do you think i could apply? Please send me more information." or something like that. |

they just got back to me.
It is indeed a check scam, they are pretending to be antique dealers from Spain, with an American IP who need Australian check mules. |
