Before I go into anymore details I would like to ask if it is appropriate to vent my anger here. My son tried to buy something from a site and has been scammed out of �615. He did this unbeknowing to me. I might have been in a position to note the scam if I was aware of his actions.I so want revenge!!! Evil or Very Mad

Right here goes. While surfing ebay as he frequently does he came across a sponsered site that was offering gaming consoles at wholesale prices.Minimum qty 5. My son somehow had managed to wrangle an o/d from his bank and had money burning a hole in his pocket . Onto the site he went and purchased 5 Wii's . Not having a credit card the seller said he must go to the bank and organise a wire transfer, which he duly did to the tune of �615.39.That was on the 29/1 and the site says that he should have the goods within 6-10 days. Guess what !!we dont have anything. All attempts to contact the seller have failed and as it was not purchased through ebay they do not want anything to do with it . The site is www.rapidgamingstore.com and I so want to know what I can do to hurt this scum.How do you spam a site or even better, get it closed down.

Just spoken to my son, .He says that he has account details and such. I'm still at work then going to kickboxing so wont see him till much later. I can let you have all he has if it helps.

The site's dodgy, looks like it's Indonesian based and a fair few people have been done over by them. Sorry mate but I think you're gonna have to chalk this one up to experience as you aren't going to get the cash back.

There's also the fact that they used an account to fraudulently receive money, so if you still have the details, you can at the very least get it seized by whatever bank they used.

I'm at work so I just had time for a quick look at the page source. However I did see this line



Googling "Copyright � 2005 UberTec Ltd" leads me to believe that they are still around somewhere. I'm not sure what relationship they have/had with the site owners or if they were the owners. Worth looking into later.

Anyone else want to take a quick look at the code and see if there are some parts worth tracking?

@Hamilton18 - I wouldn't get your hopes up to much. Last time I tried to track a dogy site, car auction on ebay, I was able to trace the info to an answering machine in the states and not much else. Best of luck though and I'll put more time into it later on this evening.

Please pass on details of the account, and the communications between your son & the scammer, to a mod. They can pass the account on to the right person to try and get it shut down. You won't get your money back, but the scammer will lose it as well.

I was looking more for some kind of pattern. If these guys have 1 site up that worked for them they will have more out there too. Sometimes it's a server url in the code other times it's a photo name that I can track, stuff like that is what I'm looking for.

Back to work but I'll look more later.

Looks like the DNS has been pointed to 0.0.0.0... I don't think that's a valid IP address. I'll bet this website pops back up soon. They are using ZONEEDIT.COM as the dns servers. That is a free dns tool. So, if you are hosting a website on your home computer, you would use places like zoneedit because your IP is dynamic (changes often)..

If the site pops up again then it may be worth reporting them, nothing may happen but it can't hurt. If they try another IP redirect then rinse and repeat. We can't kill the actual site if it's home hosted but we can keep complaining to the re-directors.

I think that you can forget that option because it just ain't likely to happen.
However, if the purchase was made using a credit card there is some hope that the card company will refund the money if you can prove that the transaction was fraudulent.

Reporting them to their ISP may work better. A lot of ISPs take exception to people running web servers on their bandwidth, as far as I understand.
