I've had a few Nigerian e-mails but nothing that could fool anyone. I do feel sorry for anyone hit by these scammers.

I have read the FAQs, and then, following the advice, have set up a dedicated new e-mail address.

I finally decided to masquerade as a minister, by prefixing my new e-mail name with- father. I'm guessing that will make me an attractive potential victim.

Next, I left comments at likely guestbooks as advised. In no time at all, I found a playmate.

father Patrick lives a life of solitude in a monastery. He can never use the telephone as he has taken a vow of silence. He doesn't have a passport or access to a fax machine either.

I'm thinking the good fathers position is a good starting place for a newby.

He can of course use the Internet infrequently at the monatery soup-kitchen, as he is let out of his monastery cell for 4 hours each day.

Father Patrick has also undertaken a vow of poverty, and owns nothing at all.

He does though, have a powerful friend in higher places, who administers overseas aid programmes. The Abbot though, is a stingy git.

You'll have seen the stuff about baiting safe, get mentor, read stickies, etc? Good.

One comment on your approach - the lad has to think you have money he can extract. Vows of poverty do not a lad a BMW X5 buy. So don't forget to dangle a carrot. I'm sure you already thought of that - just trying to help.

I'm running a priest bait at the moment - it can be great for the lads who throw their piety at you Rolling Eyes

Don't forget to have a bible close by for quotes (if you're like me that is and don't have 'em to hand). And throw in lots of references to liturgical terms and practices like Vespers, Lauds, Matins, etc.

You may want to check this site out as well http://www.churchsigngenerator.com/ - I got it from another baiter (sorry forget who and not got time to search - Kudos whoever you are) and it can be useful for a convincing sign. My whole congregation was praying for my lad to get better from his terminal illness a few weeks ago so we publicized it on our church sign.

Thank you for the advice my son. May the holy spirit watch over you and keep you always.

It seemed a little harsh (and unbelievable) that a priest would not give if he actually could, so the good father needed to take the vow of poverty.

I will of course do everything I can to prize the miserly Abbots fingers from he monastery coffers. I know it will be difficult with all his other commitments elsewhere, but I shall try.

Pray for the poor scammers child. And also for me. The sackcloth about my chilly loins is really itching my arse.
