Only 45 Days to the first race of the 2008 Formula 1 Racing.

The Time Zones the race in just really really sucks to watch Live in the US.

On another note 4 days till catchers & pitchers Report to spring training!

It would be interesting to see a Finn driving a McMerc, a Finn driving a Horsey, and a certain Spaniard driving a French car make whose name I can't recall Smile

Seriously though, it should be a good season, and I'm hoping that Kimi shows himself as amazing. The time zone for me isn't too bad. European and the Singapore race will all be at 8 in the morning for me, while the other countries vary, but it should be good.

What channel do you guys prefer it on?

By the way, the ECU is now standardized and co-developed by Microsoft, no jokes! I guess that the way the championship will be determined will not be through reliability, but by who did not receive the Blue Screen of Death on their steering wheels Laughing

I was surprised to learn the it was Lester that started this thread not Standard Procedure. I hope that Standard Procedure does not start a 40 days to Formula 1 racing thread.

I'm having withdrawal symptoms here but am keeping in touch via a couple of sites like Crashnet and ITVF1.

Apparently the new Honda is a different breed of dog, but still slow, Max Mosley is still a jerk and the Spanish press think that fans wearing afros, boot polish and writing 'Hamiltons Familly' (sic) on their T-shirts is not at all racist. No surprises there then...

I've always been a Ferrari fan, and hated Ron Dennis, but would like to see either Ferrari win a championship on merit and not because Max gave it them, or the boy Lewis to achieve what seems to be his destiny.

Imagine my joy having bought tickets to the spanish GP that they are now saying the FIA might cancel it due to some racist pricks!

having said that I did personally search the internet to see if anyone sold an 'Alonso is a TWAT' t-shirt (with intergrated stab vest) but nothing came up! not on the grounds of him being Spanish, but on the grounds of him being a total cock who can't take being beaten and throws his toys out of his pram.

Which reminds me of a similar spat between Matt Neal and Jason Plato in the BTCC where one of them actually bought a pram full of toys to the race track and pushed it into the others garage! class.

You know haywood, I sympathize with you. Can you imagine the GP being cancelled because of 5 individuals out of thousands doing this? I think it was ok for everyone to boo, but to utter racial slurs and using symbolic gestures of racism (Like the blackface), that's just over the line.

I hope they do what was originally planned: identify the individuals and take legal action against them.

@ Haywood - that incident, on top of the monkey chants at black footballers and the storm their national team manager provoked last year all seem to add up to a situation where sporting bodies are going to be expected to crack down on the Spanish. Unfortunately, the race might well be cancelled, simply because it's the venue of the latest in a series of such happenings.

I do believe that this has been blown out of proportion by the British media. I would assume that if this can't be contained at an actual GP, where the media coverage is greatest, they would then cancel the GP for the next year or give that country's representatives from the FIA an ultimatum of some sort. Cancelling the GP is the absolute last resort to take, IMO.

Though obviously racism is horrible and should be eradicated as much as possible from any setting, I agree with Standard Procedure that this has been blown out of proportion. I very much doubt racist/xenophobic taunts have just suddenly appear in the sport when a black driver arrives. For example, Fernando Alonso was subject to a good deal of tiffosi abuse in 2006, and I doubt that none of it was xenophobic.

This is not a new problem, it's just more visible now.
