Hi ladies and gents,

can some mod take care of this ? The topic "WU S3cure transf3r troubleshooter" (pretty old one) is very easily to be found for lads.

There's nothing the mods can do to "un" google the site. But if everyone would use caution in discussing things in forums not behind a login, the problem would eventually lessen.

Exactly. Like not posting about it here in the Main Forum. At least use hints and tips - that requires a login IIRC.

I have found at some time or another that the mask-feature does not always mask it when you search it with the Yahoo-search engine... Sad

I believe the site admin can put something in the index of the forums that make it so it doesn't get crawled to Google.

no, you can keep the FORUMS from getting crawled, not the website itself.

We want the forums and the site to get as much exposure as we can. This includes via search engines. Lad names, email address, company names etc that are posted here draw in potential victims and educate people about scams.

The way to solve problems like this is to be careful what you post and regularly change the name so the lads are googling "pink fluffy duck" instead of "really cool baiting tool" and ending up somewhere far from the mark.

To restrict access to the forums to save a bait would be counter productive to the main purpose of this site (including forums) and that is to restrict lad access to victims and their money.

It is also helpful to remember that anything that is posted in the main forum can be read by anyone. It might be a good idea to apply the same rule that you would apply to email - if you don't want what you write to be read by the public, don't post it in the main forum. If in doubt, ask and you shall be helped. Very Happy

Fortunately, most mugus don't bother spending their precious Internet cafe time Googling. But it can -- and does -- happen sometimes. Discretion is the better part of valor, but varying the spelling helps if you do want to post about it. There's also the MASK button, but that should be used selectively to avoid hogging bandwith. Just mask the name, not the entire email exchange.
