Hi everyone, my mom joined a website: http://www.wealthtoolbox.com. The way it works is you join and then you open up another browser or tab and let the internet bandwidth trade shares for you. Eventually you can earn a substantial amount. In a few days she has earned over 2,000 and never had to pay anything in.
The catch is they will pay in December...so that is a long time to have your account active before a payout. If it is a scam what exactly are they using your bandwidth for? |

*almost dies*
I can't believe it. ID-10T exploitation at a massive level. These guys are asking permission to add your computer to a botnet! It's worse than the Storm worm!
Seriously, unless someone can prove to me that they are using the computing power constructively, I'd say they're using it maliciously. For what, I'm not sure. Their whois is masked, so who knows?
EDIT: They provide NO contact information whatsoever, so I'd say it's probably not legit. They are hosted by 1&1, however I think there is no evidence that they are doing anything wrong. The only way they could be convicted is if they neglected to pay up Jan. 15. By which point they'll probably have taken down the site and yadda yadda.
I'll poke around and see what I come up with. It looks fairly professional. |

It seems many people are agreeing that this is probably a scam, especially because it states in the TOS that they reserve the right to deny payment to anyone for any reason. Apparently, they give people "extra credit" if they fill out "offers" which they(the site owners) get paid to refer people to.
Personally, I think it's way to shiny for that to be all that it involves, but then again, I'm a pessimistic conspiracy theorist.
The details will probably come out sooner or later, depending on whether someone finds a vulnerability in their site or if they just shut down or get caught doing something stupid. |

It's a scam, of that you can be certain.
The other part of your question I'll let others answer. |

I'm with JJ and BB on this. This is a situation to avoid. There will be no money made from participating in this. |

The first paragraph about their program "HiveAttack" (what a stupid name for anything but a DDOS-tool...) made me giggle:
Quote: |
We are developing a new computer program designed to analyze financial markets. The goal is to create a highly advanced prediction engine that will alert us when stock or currency prices are about to move up or down.
The computing power required to reach our goal will be absolutely massive. It could take years on a very powerful super-computer, at a cost of millions of dollars. |
Yeah, sure... |

Yeah right .. 'or so'
Did your mother install software to take part in this obvious scam?
If so, she better check it with spybot or similar tools ... |
