My road about 7 months ago got slammed for having wrecks outside nearly every house. Now to be fair they were not wrecks, some had volvo's and they go forever they just wont rust and die - so people have kept them - they do however look old.
Having a sense of pride a few down the local last week ganged up and said they would have a look into newer motors

Imagine my surprise when this morning theres 5 lotus's parked on our road, 2 range rovers and a TANK. and a big sign saying "report our road again and we will drive this tank over you."

All became clear earlier they hired all the cars and the tank as a protest, but i did like the lotuses, apparently they look like the 2008 elixge but are only 1998 elise's - and only �5000 & �600 for the rear kit. A bunch of us thought about it - and a bunch of the women argued about it, and were all thinking of getting those great 2 door 2 seaters - which means all our women are now mad at us - and i didnt even do anything Sad

all i said is i like them, i dont plan on buying a sports car - at least not till the mid life crisis sets in more permanently. But at that price Twisted Evil

ya cant help thinking there worth it - high milage and petrol and maintenance puts me off tho - but i still like em Razz

The elise is a brilliant car, goes round corners like its on rails and is a hoot to drive.
Unfortunately it hasn't got a back seat...

the elise is in insurance group 20 - so are ferrari's lol.

The tank sounds fun - but i wouldnt know where to buy one of those and im sure they couldnt clamp it Twisted Evil

I really like the Elise - much more like a British Roadster than some of it's previous efforts.

Lotus generally have a pretty poor reputation for reliability but seems the Elise is the exception.
Only down side from person point of view is the roof is not the easiest to put up (when you drive into a summer rainstorm.)

I got a quote for an elise �4750 plus a 250 excess on third party fire & theft - i dont think ill be driving either anytime soon lol.

thats 10 grand for a 2 seater car - on the road

Ummm the tank looks fun but again too pricey ill stick to my corsa Razz

I had a look at the tanks, I also had a look at the bit in little writing "by law if you drive a tank and it damages any public road you have to pay repair costs" and the bit on how much rubber road tracks were.

I also laughed when i read the ebay listing "safer for the school run"

I then went to autotrader had a look there - im not getting a lotus elise either - the quote was nearly 5 grand almost as much as the car.

Ill stick to me faithful diesel corsa -

ps a litre of petrol is 96 pence
a litre of water is 1.16 pence
a litre of bulls sperm is nearly 23 GRAND

be thankful cars use petrol Wink

Small armoured scout vehicle will do the trick. No tracks, usually street legal, usually small diesel, decent mpg.

A dealer near where I used to live had one i lusted after...........

Ive managed to get the insurance quote down to under 2 grand - �1925

Car Value �5000 (to the nearest hundred)- 9 years no claims, no convictions, licence held since 17

They hung up on me when i asked about the tank - so i dunno see if anyone else can get a quote

comparethemarket - didnt work it was taking forever so i used moneysupermarket.com and the mid range elise is a 1997 one black, 1.8 litre engine, with a massive 28mpg (rover 200 had 17 mpg)

None beat my corsa 48mpg (Diesel) A guy called dave from dagenham ford tuned it up for me Twisted Evil
