As most of you know by now Shiver has stepped down from Eater.
When he called me up last week to discuss this my first instinct was to convince the man that he had gone temporarily insane and that he was living a bad dream. As we spoke I came to realize that he was being serious and that he really did have the best interest of eater at heart. He simply could not devote the amount of time needed to Eater that he would like to.
My next shock came when he asked me to step up to the plate and take over the site. When I started off at eater a couple of years ago this community was a lot smaller and less diverse than it is today, We all virtually knew each other and there was even a time when I would read every single new thread and message that was written.
Today a lot has changed, more users and more threads than I care to shake a stick at. However one thing I believe has remained constant, and that is the sense of community that we have here on Eater.
I have come to realize without a shadow of a doubt that Eater owes it's very existence to you the members and supporters of this hobby of ours.
Shiver is going to be a hard act to follow, It is not something I am even going to try to do. However I do believe that with a strong team of mods and admins as well as you the users we will continue to grow eater and to fight back at the lads like never before.
If you do have any questions, suggestions and or just want to say hi - feel free to pm me or email me at |

I always preferred you anyway, that shiver guy was merely keeping your seat warm. (Has he gone yet?)
Seriously, all the best mate, I'm sure eater will continue to be renowned world wide as the number 1 house of lad pain. Keep up the good work. |

I have no doubt you will excel in your new position Rover. Shiver appointed you for a reason.
Good luck and we are all here to mock you sarcastically when needed, all you have to do is post. |

This is like Castro handing off the reigns to his younger brother...the question is whether it will be good or bad for the Cubans...
Good luck Rover. Let the PMs begin!

Congrats on your promotion, Rover. I'm sure we'll all miss Shiver but at the same time we can take satisfaction knowing that things are in your capable hands. (And you have proven that capability repeatedly.)
I was intrigued by your comments on the old days at Eater. It was smaller back in the day, wasn't it? I just realized that I joined only 5 days after you, but you sure have advanced a lot further I guess that just goes to show how hard you have worked here, and/or how lazy I am.
Carry on! |

Always sad to see the guard change, but he obviously trusts you to handle it. Lead the way sir!
Hmm, maybe we should now have a contest... Get our lads to make a sign wishing Shiver the best of luck & welcoming Rover |

I totally agree on the sign idea -- what better way to usher out our fearless leader than with an awesome lad-made banner wishing him all the best? GAME ON!
Thanks to Shiver for all his hard work in establishing this strange little outpost of crime-fighting. Those of us who've had friends or relatives affected by 419 crime appreciate the opportunity to actually do something about it. I look forward to working with this eclectic community under our new management. |
