This is a bit odd, and I hope that someone can shed some light on this.
When the mugu was in Accra, his IP clearly identified him as being there.
Since he has travelled on to Kumasi, his IP has been fixed as this one..

IP - 196.200.119.26 = Lagos, Nigeria

All of his Emails over the past two days have this exact same IP, but where is he?
Is he really in Nigeria now, or is this a satellite covering Kumasi..?

This mugu is far too relaxed for my liking, even if he is on safari. So I make a bold attempt to lure him much further North into Ghana.

Mr 0gunbule's daughter lives in a town called Tamale which is a bit to
the North from here, but is a large town and very easy to reach.
I begged Mr Robin to stay here with me, until you came for me, and
because he now knows how much I love you. But he said that he couldn't
and that we must travel with the 0gunbule family and help them in any way that we can.

My darling, darling husband please come here to Tamale for me, I will
wait for you, please do not abandon me now that we are so close to each other, just a few hours seperate us my lover.

Please come for me, I miss you so much and so desperately want you with me...
I will try to borrow someones phone and call you later on the

A quick reverse DNS lookup indicates that IP is owned by . Frustratingly enough, they list two countries on their homepage -- Nigeria and Ghana.

Ugh. That's not helpful.

Looking at their , it seems that they specialize in vsat-based Internet access in Ghana, Nigeria and surrounding countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same satellite serving all of this area, and if so, then it's all downlinking through the same spot.

Looks like unless we get more info, the trail goes a tad cold here.

However, there's one last clue that I can think of that might be helpful.

Where did he normally e-mail you from originally? What was that IP? If he didn't normally use an Acc3lon account in Nigeria (or wherever he's from), then he may very well be hitting you now from a different location, and it's quite plausible that that location is Ghana.

@Tom - Thanks for the investigation. I have a clear path of IPs that took him from Abidjan to Accra.

He then told me that he followed my instructions and took the bus to Kumasi.
Since the day that he allegedlly arrived in Kumasi his IP has been fixed as 196.200.119.26.

I am now 99.9% certain that he is in Kumsai, as there is no logic whatsoever in him travelling on to Lagos.
Just that I am looking at the map of Ghana and plotting where his safari can take him to next.... Very Happy

I'll back you up on that. In Accra it's not too hard to find local Internet providers, but as you start going north into the countryside, satellite becomes a more prevalent option. In short, I agree -- he's almost certainly using a Kumasi cafe that is fed by vsat.

IP - 196.200.119.26 - Yet again that same IP. Every Email that he has sent from Kumasi has that IP, so could he be staying at a residential house..?

From what (little) I remember of sattelite-based Internet access in Ghana, all of the plans I heard of were not cheap. Someone I knew was upgrading a university from a partial vsat to a full vsat. Most people I know of that use vsat in West Africa share it with a number of other people. So while I don't know the size of Kumasi, I wouldn't be that surprised if the whole city was served by only a few (maybe just one?) vsats. Even if your lad is using more than one cafe, then I think it safe to guess that a number of them are sharing the same sat connection.

You might think, "My goodness, that would be slooooow!"

It's too bad that Sendoki-Takoradi is closer to C�te d'Ivoire rather than further away -- C�te d'Ivoire did rather well in their last game against Benin, and I imagine our Ivorian friend would be more willing to take a long trek if he thought that he could be there to support his home country in the Cup of Nations. Looking at the knockout stage, I'm pretty sure Ivory Coast will be the winner from Group B to play in Sendoki on Feb 3rd.

Edit: OOOH. Just had a thought. Maybe your excuse for leaving could be that the excitement of the African Cup of Nations is getting to be too much, and you needed to go someplace more quiet. Maybe there were some rioting fans and your host thought it safer to move you some place in the countryside.

I decided to try and send him somewhere other than further North, because I think he would quit if I suggested Bolgatanga.
So looking at the map of Ghana, the town of Kete looks to be a good location.

Its about 150 miles SE of Tamale, in the general direction of Accra, but with all those blue areas of water shown on the map, travelling must be pretty awkward I'd imagine. Plus if he does venture there, he is on the wrong side of teh Volta, and will need to get a ferry.... Very Happy

Oh, and did I drop the name KEVIN enough times JoJo?... Laughing
