I'm posting this here instead of General cuz I know Murry likes to collect recipes and it's from one of my love lads. I'll apologize for my lad's atrocious spelling but he's really not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I have always wondered about plantains and never dreamed they'd be combined with beans. I asked him about the beans and he said red ones were fine. This is his favorite meal:

And then pour the stew into the coking beans and plantain.. allow it to be looked for 10mins I guess and check if it need to add salt..

Ready to eat your meal�lol

Translations (near as I can figure):
Bored = Boiled (it actually takes many hours of simmering to soften and cook dried beans)
Bens = Beans
Plam oil = Palm oil and I suspect you could use vegetable oil as a substitute

The rest I think you can figure out. He sent this to me in an email but gave me most of the instructions in chat. Here's what I can add to the above:

Soak about 4 cups of red beans in water over night so they soften and swell. Next day, pour off the water, rinse and add fresh water to the pot. Bring to a rolling boil and then turn down to simmer (slightly bubbling).

Peel, cut and cube the plantain meat (I'm going to guess 1 Plantain as they're quite large) and add to the beans. Simmer them together covered for about 4 hours.

In a sauce pan, heat the palm oil (probably a small amount like 1/4 cup) and saute sliced tomatoes and onions with salt and pepper. Cook thoroughly and then add the mixture to the beans and plantains. I suspect the plantains make the liquid in the beans like a thick gravy.

He said he likes to eat this over steamed white rice. It actually sounded pretty good to me. I'm going to try it.

That is part of a well known recipe.
i.e. beef steak (or chicken) with plantain and beans.

However, your poor lad can't afford the meat element but persists with the rest of the recipe.
Thus, the plantain and beans get 'bored' because they lack the company of the meat.

Well, that's my take anyway. Smile

SOunds caribbeanish.......
Plantains taste like slightly sweet bananas.....
I've only had them sliced thin, and fried as if potato chips or pomme frites

Can't afford meat? The local rat population is depleted, or busy at work in the internet cafe??

OBL, I do appreciate your efforts at a recipe but that one doesn't sound so good, please ask your pet for another recipe, this time you want him to tell you how he eats goats meat

Here's one for you.

They taste all the better knowing some lad has wasted his time to pass them onto you Wink
