As a BBC America tv watcher I am curious to know what others think about British TV programs. Some of the imports are good and some could have stayed home. My favorate show is a toss up between "The Office" and "Life on Mars". The worst show is "How Clean Is You House?" (where do they find those messy people?). Care to comment?

The fly on the wall stuff is always pretty crap, I don't personally know people over here who watch it let alone abroad. Life on Mars and The Office are excellent though, do you guys get Dr Who and Torchwood? both are well worth a look.

Yes we get both of those. I have been watching Dr. Who since the 80's. Torchwood is great!

Katty Kay is nice, the BBC also have the hottest news correspondant ever:

Top Gear is also well worth watching if you get the chance.

Also, Kitchen Nightmares is heads and shoulders above the U.S. version they put out recently (although it's not terrible).

How anyone can watch that guy in the American version of Kitchen Nightmares is beyond me. He acts like a spoiled child to whom nothing is ever right.

As for the others, the mention of 'messy people' brings to mind a Style Network show called "Clean House". Each week they take their cameras into a messy home and I mean MESSY. There are four in the crew, a Host, the 'Garage Sale Diva', the 'Muscle' and the Designer. They talk to the people about how the house got the way it is, and then they help clean it out, but not just clean, they take their stuff (most of it) and sell it in a garage sale. THe proceeds of which the designer uses to re-design the inside space. VERY well done. (Though the host gets on my nerves a bit. )

as said before top gear and life on mars are probably the best programs we have,the rest is dross.

but saying that we are flooded with american shows.i am now saturated with CSI,law and order(all variations) and ncis etc etc.

these shows were fab when they were first shown but now ........well.........

we do have all your fly on the wall ie american chopper,pimp my ride(we do have our own version which is very sad.)

Life On Mars is very close to reality ( I work with an ex-copper with lots of RL experience of the setup at the time)

HCIYH- well we all know someone whose house is a flyblown sh*ttip- the only problem is getting the cameras in there!! ( it takes a certain sort of cretin to admit to that level of laziness/stupidity/ insert your own term))

For fans of 'Life On Mars', there is, I believe, a new series currently in production set in the 1980s. John Simm (Sam Tyler) isn't in it due to other work commitments, but Philip Glenister (Gene Hunt) is.

Not sure when it's due to be aired. Hopefully, some time this year.

Crank up the Quatro. The BBC are now heavily trailering the new spin off series from 'Life On Mars' it's called 'Ashes To Ashes' and is set in the 1980s...coming soon.

I'm shocked they stopped repeating 6 year old episodes of homes under the hammer and location, location, location. They must have worn out the tapes from showing them so many times.

Does anyone else notice that the majority of the adverts these days are for religious music? I'm not sure I get the relationship between that channel and worship.

Our adverts are for erectile dysfunction (Dish TV). I mean seriously are there that many cases of ED out there? Confused
