I haven't checked out those links, but a book I read once claimed Geller was working for the CIA in the 70's, doing some "remote viewing" experiements to spy on the Russians...

Has anyone heard of Derek Akorah? That guy is pure class!

As for people believing it, it is almost quasi religious the way some people get into that stuff, and I will say no more for fear of offending our religious bretheren.

Poor old Uri was caught demonstrating how to bend a spoon in a restaurant - unfortunately, the hidden camera showed him using a not so psychic way of doing it.

If that book was called Mind Wars, then I read it too, and it showed that Geller was caught trying to use some fairly basic conjuring tricks.

According to John Ronson in The Men Who Stare At Goats, Geller claimed to have been "reactivated" by the CIA after September 11; just like a Lad to leach off disasters...

The south park episode making fun of Johnathan Edwards is great. Kyle goes in front of one his crowds after his show and starts to explain how the scam works, giving examples. Of course everyone in the crowd then thinks Kyle has the "gift". Quite humorous as Kyle spends his whole time telling everyone it is a con and everyone keeps insisting he is psychic.

I just had the chance to see the video from the Tonight Show. Man, was that ever awesome watching that piece of shit squirm like that. It's amazing to me that his career did not end right there on the spot. Maybe if the Tonight Show were prime time, it would have. What a loser that guy is.

I was fooled the 1st time I saw Geller. Believed it all .
In my defence I was young and impressionable.
Then my dad did the spoon bending /breaking thing in front of me; so that shattered a few illusions.

There was something about Derek Acorah that always made me want to slap him silly.
He just seemed to scream FAKE. In the end he did. ( google Kreed Kafer for the whole story if you dont already know it )

The author Christopher Brookemyre uses the techniques of some fake mediums in the plot of " Attack of the unsinkable rubber ducks ".
He shows how a lot of it can be done.

OH CRAP I remenber him now...i remember when randi busted him on the phone book page flipping and hes giving all kind of excuses like there was static elec. in the pages and other BS,, and then you hear him in the mic they made him wear blowing on the page to flip it and he flips out and throws the table.

Geller's main problem is he won't admit he's an illusionist (with very small repertoire). His main crime is he's encouraging people to believe in psychics.

John Edwards on other hand is just scum. He makes lads look ethical as he only targets the vulnerable at their worst time.

I've never worked out why people like him are not prosecuted - there must be enough evidence to show its a con.
