A while back, I made the stupid mistake by posting a roommate ad on a church bulletin that is available to everyone. They don't obfuscate e-mail addresses so I now get tons of e-mails from lads, saying they want to move-in immediately.
Instead of just "turning them down", I'm playing "nice" by telling them that they need to pay a $100 application fee to even be considered. Of course, they have to pay by credit card!
So far, no takers...
I'm not doing this to make the money...more of a filter to make sure I get real people interested. |

If I were a real person looking for a roommate, I probably wouldn't bother with someone asking for a credit card number or application fee. Fortunately for you I am only an imaginary character. |
