So via Fark I see this link to a sell on ebay, and let me tell you it sounds very much like a 419 scam, just using a different venue.

Here is the sellers about me information:

I did not start this Journey for money. But to see if there could actually be a way that Time Travel could be done. At First I was a Skeptic and thought there could not possibly be a way. I really thought I would ponder for a Lifetime without a chance of solving. But after much Research, hard work and filing alot of information for 5 years, a Way started to Develope. Then it came to me in a Revelation. There was a Way. There is a Way. & This is the Way. I Believe it to be Inspired. Its Weight and Magnitude gave me P.T.S.D. for 3 years. I am much better now, Thank God. Though its Knowledge is still a very Heavy Load & Responsibility. Add 2 years to Write and Ponder Ethics and as a Responsible Innovator, Market Cautiously. This is from an email conversation someone had with the seller:

me: Have you developed the clockstar yet? Does it work?

Him: Hello, Thank you for your email and your interest in
this Project. I have been told U.S. is Developing in Los Alamos
Nat Lab.As of this email no one entity has come forth to assume
control of my Work. I have been contacted by several Principals
to Purchase, but as of now no one has stepped up to the Plate.
It is Real. I have finished Math for Program to create Micro
Chip Processor for Digital Time Piece. It is still available.
If you are interested, we can set up a meeting to Discuss
further. Thank You & Happy Holidays. Ron

P. S. Mathematics can Run immeadiately. Followed shortly
thereafter by Mock. Comp. Sim. Thanks Again.

Me: Tell me, with your work, how hard would it be for me to
acctually start time travel?

take a team effort to develope, and quite abit of funding. Though

Getting investors for iffy technology like this is quite a common scam and is not a 419 AFF-related thing. Sometimes it's a deliberate ploy to get quick money from the scientifically gullible, and sometimes it's a genuine case of someone believing his own hype too much.
The type specimen for such a scheme is the perpetual motion machine. There's usually a press release announcing a breakthrough, a call for investors, and then the thing fades into obscurity because no one (yet) has managed to break the laws of motion/physics and create free energy.
This looks like just one more variation on the same theme.

Yup, Otterfan is right. I saw something like this on TV. You meet in a hotel, they show you some gobbledegook, lots of mumbo jumbo...they get you to hand over the cash on the phony device. If they want you to go to Africa with 10 million you might get offed. Evil or Very Mad

EDIT: But: maybe you can get a safari out of them??

Have you checked the e-mails (assuming you have had a conversation with him) to see where the IP addy resolves back to?

This seems to be a variation of the "perpetual motion" scam. Usually, the scammer sells "franchises" to the rights to the device when it gets popular. There are always difficulties. People have to keep reinvesting to "save" what they have already investigated.

Their big press demo event, shock of shocks, was the "only time this hasn't worked" blah blah. In fact it's never been demonstrated and the cynical mind has to speculate that matter is neither being created nor destroyed (essential to perpetual motion and its impossibility is a cornerstone of physics) and that this is utter bollocks.

For an entertaining half hour search for "steorn" on google and youtube Smile

Which, incidentally, is what keeps the "faith" of the victim: it is always easier to believe one more little lie than to believe that one has not only been duped but has flushed a lot of money down a toilet.

The question sometimes arises does the scammer know he is a scammer. I have concluded "yes." In all cases I have encountered, the scammer either basically lies about his results or willfully ignores any test that might prove he has crap. There are a lot of "woos" out there who claim they can do all sorts of things. The honest ones test it. A prime example is dowsers. Dowsing is one of the best examples of how a person can fool himself into believing he has a "power" to do something. However, as testers of such woo do affirm, dowsers are usually the first to submit to an objective test. Some actually change their mind when shown they have nothing. There are a few frauds--those who know they have shit but enjoy charging for it.

When the deluded collects money for the delusion and refuses to confirm his claims, he becomes a fraud in my estimation.

So, if this clown can be baited, he should be.

I have not had the email conversations, I copied them from someone who had, just to see what the guy would say. The reason 419 came to mind was from his responses to the email questions, very Lad like answers...only not in all caps Smile

If you feel it is a Lad and need some really nice "due diligence" forms, (17 or 18 pages that MUST be filled in detail + be notarized by an outside accountancy firm) PM me. I'll send you a batch for your Lad to fill out.

I would love to see Lad answers to the questions on these forms anyway.
