My dad recently tried sending money to Nigeria and the W.U. person here in the U.S. said that they do not send money to Nigeria.

Have others heard this?

Has he called customer service? I thought WU sent money anywhere they have offices..

Must be a local office thing.

Was just having a look at the Aus site of WU and can definitely send to Nigeria. Can specify Aus dollars or Nigerian Naira.

I was looking at western union's web site yesterday and there was no mention of a new policy. If it is it's stupid or at least a stupid way of handling the situation. Not everyone in Nigeria are scammers.

Sorry double-O that your dad wasn't able to send some money home for the holidays via WU. Did he send it through MG?

I understand there's a limit per transfer to Nigeria.

Maybe your father was just over the limit, they told him 'no,' and he misunderstood.

It's possible the WU operator's alarm bells sounded. If it is a new policy, even an unwritten one, it's yet another thing the lads have messed up for the decent huge majority of people in Nigeria.

The limit used to be $2999 I believe. I have been spreading rumours to all my mugus that WU has suspended transactions to Nigeria. Maybe they caught wind of that. Laughing

"I've tried W.U. transfer, but they won't send my money because it's going to nigeria"
