I have been lurking around the site, mostly laughing my arse off, and decided I would love to get in on the action! I don't think I could ever match the complexity of the baits that Shiver Metimbers accomplishes, but I will do my best to eat up the time and resources of scammers the best i can!
One of my hobbies during my last year at University was introducing myself as a fictitious person, making up a new name, occupation, history... everything. I loved doing that (even though I usually came clean pretty quick) and I see this as an opportunity to continue my hobby and do some good at the same time!
I look forward to baiting! ...and receiving help from those who know how to do this stuff better than me, though I have always been able to lie really well! |

Thanks! Glad to be here.
I have a quick etiquette question:
I have been enjoying Shiver's baits on the letters archive and I am wondering if it is kosher to lift some (read: most) of some thing he has written just to kinda get me going? I really want to use his artist approach while I test the waters.
To Shiver:
I read in one of your baits that you lived in Kenya for a while! Me too! I lived there from August '02 to August '04. I spent at least several months in Eldoret, Nairobi (15 months - even your beloved Westlands for 2 months!), Ukambani and Mombasa. I look forward to drawing on my experiences there as you have done on multiple baits.
Again, it is great to be here! |

welcome to the monkey house
If you read Kurt Vonnegut, Terry Pratchett, Robert Rankin or Ian Bain, you'll fit right in
Read the stickies, apply for a mentor, don't take it seriously, there will be another scammer along in 3 minutes, the first one off the rank isn't always the best one
Did I mention about reading the stickies?
Have fun, bait safe
edit: Douglas Adams has fans here too |

I have been Lurking around the site/forums for almost a week trying to get a feel for things. I have read a lot of the stickies today and have even cast off for my first two scammers!
I have asked for a mentor on the appropriate forum and can't wait to get going!
I will try to post some vague info about myself in my profile so you can get a better feel for what I am bringing to this party!
---oh, and Vonnegut is (was ) one of my favorite authors! But most of my baiter names will come from the late , great Robert Jordan's epic, The Wheel of Time series. |

Forgot to mention last time the man himself was mentioned... I get a mention (by my real name, no less!) in the foreword of Rankin's The Witches of Chiswick. Which sounds grand, but when you see what the foreword contains, maybe not quite so grand.
Oh, and also... Welcome to Eater, NB-sM! Bait safe(ly), read some stickies, and get well and truly mentored up until you've got good advice popping out of your ears. |

Um... I'm not in the first two paragraphs, let's put it that way. I could be in the third, though... hint, hint... |

Feel free to borrow a little from everyone's baits. I've learned a lot from not only the posts in here, but by reading the completed baits in the Published Forum.

Google maps can only help so much. I'm sure you're life experiences there will help someone too. |

Hi.
As for your name, I'm thinking it will fall into the category of 'it seemed like a good idea at the time'.
Sort of like parents that name their sons Sue or Horace. |
