Oh, look, Cyric the postwhore...the who? Yup, I don't post that much. Mostly because everytime I'm about to post something, I start thinking it's a stupid comment, delete the text and forget about it. But maybe on this "once per year" day I could actually press that "submit" button. Don't worry, only today, I promise.

A year and few weeks ago I had been drifting back and forth on this site, reading published baits, seeing the pictures, the usual stuff. I was about to register for something like ten times before I actually did it. The temptation grew too big: I wanted to know more about baiting.

Heading to the general scambaiting forums, I was fully prepared for an onslaught of "LOL u stoopid me smart n00b" kind of "discussion" that I've seen on numerous other forums. Surprisingly there was none. I even spent some time searching for them. It felt unnatural that people were actually helping each other in good spirit, everyone pulling the same rope instead of competing with each other.
The general chat was something completely different from the usual routines too. People were not arguing about politics, religion or whose daddy is the strongest one. I later learned it wasn't even allowed, but after a year I can't see that being the only reason. There are plenty of forums where this kind of rules are also applied, yet people still argue like they didn't exist.

I can't describe how impressed I was. Intelligence on an Internet forum, yet still humour and friendly atmosphere? I think I just build my tent right here and call this home then. Apparently for years to come too, unless I'm banned.
Due to some real life problems this year has also been one of the most chaotic of my life. Baiting has not only been a good hobby to have something else to concentrate on aside the problems, but also the general spirit of this group has been great helper outside of baiting too. Being here always makes me smile.

Thanks for existing, people. You are simply the best. Or like an RL discussion with a certain associate of mine went, when I told him about baiting and what we do:
He: "You really do that?"
Me: "Yep."
He: "You're a loony!"
Me: "Yep. And I'm very proud to be part of the finest group of loonies that one can ever find."

I'm in complete agreement with everything you said, Cyric - I used to be a member here (many years ago) but had to stop due to RL commitments. Because of RL problems the past few months, I needed something to take my mind of stuff, and Eater was the way. Granted, it took me about a month to find it again, but I'm really glad I came back. And nothing has changed! I even managed to find one of my old baits still on the "publish" forum (made me giggle, but shouldn't say that as it's blowing my own trumpet... Very Happy

)

Basically, I too have been on many fora, and this is the only one where I actually felt like I could post on my first day as a member! I hate the "clique-y-ness" of other fora, and it's great to see such determination in an online community. Plus, I hate talk of religion and politics, so it's nice to be able to escape them!

And it's amazing how many people are shocked when I tell them what my hobby is. I've pretty much given up telling people now, because they either don't have a clue what I'm talking about, or just give me really odd looks and move away quietly.

I can't wait for my eaterversary! Can we have cake now?

Ah, Bruin, I wasn't trying to nitpick. Actually I wouldn't have noticed that little grammar thing if you hadn't pointed it out now. I was just surprised that someone here had actually noticed me enough to have even some sort of expectations [*insert some more Cyric's usual rambling, raving and explaining here*]

...Nevermind. Let us eat cake Very Happy

. And thanks for the comments to everyone else too. Next year I'll try to prepare appropriately and have a mugu bake a cake with text "Happy Eaterversary" on it. Too bad he probably can't send it to a dropbox, but at least it would make a good trophy photograph.
