Blade Runner is the very first movie that I ever saw on video tape. I have no idea why I remember this but I remember it like it was yesterday. My father brought home a new VCR (beta - not VHS) and the movie Blade Runner. I thought, and still think, that it was one of the coolest movies that I have ever seen.

I managed to see the director's cut on the big screen last Saturday. It is a beauutifuuul new print Cool

When the 5-disc version was announed someone on another board said 'who needs a 5-disk version??!!' um, me? Laughing

I really enjoy watching Roy, a brilliant performance - one of the finest things I've ever seen at a cinema.

Okay, I've just watched the video here here at butt-long linky.

Please, am I the only one hearing 'YOU won't live long' blurred in with 'SHE won't live long' near the end of the video? I'm going mad, I thought I heard 'you' at the cinema, this might be very clever but my hearing isn't good...

I went to the Directors Cut in the theatre, what will be re-added in the "Final Cut"

D'oh! I ignored this post, thinking it was about a certain email supplier to the lads.

Favourite film for me too, well, first equal along with 'Das Boot'.

I have the 1992 Director's Cut on DVD, the first to remove the stupid commentary and happy ending that was imposed upon them by the stupid bean counters in the studio. I read recently that the reason Harrison Ford grumpily refused to discuss the film for years wasn't just the resentment of night after night filming at 4am in the freezing rain, and being shouted at by Ridley, as everyone assumed, but being made to do the voiceover by people who shouldn't have been allowed to interfere.

Not really sure how I could ever justify to Santa why I want a 5 disc version, I'd still watch the directors cut, and life's to short to watch all the extra's.

Anyone remember Rutger in the Guinness ads?

I also recently read that the Darryl Hanna part was originally offered to Debbie Harry. Dunno how true that is.

@ Shiv, I have the original Director's cut dvd.
Probably a pointless question, is it worth buying this one?

@WP: I have that version also (now heading for the nearest bin). The image is cropped out of proportion, and the transfer quality is putrid in comparison to the new release! There's hours of extras on this re-release, but if you're only interested in the film itself then I'd definitely recommend you buy the 2 disc version which is a give-away at only �9.99.

I was watching 100 best films over the weekend, and they mentioned that that speech by Rutger was ad libbed. He refused to say whatever was in the original script.
