Overheard a remark earlier today, made by a little girl to her mother, it made my day.

"Mummy, how do you spend money"? Very Happy

Rather than discuss the stereotypes espoused here. .

I did read one time that women tend to spend smaller amounts more frequently, while men tend to spend larger amounts less frequently:

ie: Women buy lots more clothing, a man buys a computer and a car.

So it all evens out.

And don't even get me started on whose money is whose. Wink

But I am sure that this test was biased more towards men. I'm just saying it before one of the girls runs along and says it. Oh, and lest we forget that the leader of the study is a man.

Yes, I go shopping several times a week. But am I spending oodles of money? Nope! All the money I spend *I* have made myself.

EDITED MORE: For your information, I MAKE MY OWN MONEY. I have YET to spend an SO's money. In fact, *I* have been leeched off of by a couple of able-bodied men who were too damn LAZY to get a job.

I think it's some sort of primeval thing. Millions of years ago man was the hunter gatherer risked his life and limbs, whilst the woman stayed in the cave to pop the kids out and keep the fire going and vacuum.

I'm not a spender and go through turmoil when I spend more than a 100 bucks on a pair of shoes.

MEN ARE DIFFERENT! They balk at spending that much on shoes, then casually mention that they're about to blow thousands.

Last night, as I'm dropping off to sleep, the other half casually mentions that he's been corresponding with the Audi dealer via email, on getting a new 65K car! I must add, the last new car is about 14 months old! Shocked

I could never spend that amount of money on a car.

So yea, we may spend but not on crazy expensive things.

I freely admit to liking and enjoying shopping especially with my girlfriends, but not all women like shopping. Go to a car show and watch the men. They are checking out all of the cars, trying them on for size, talking about colors and accessories, looking at the window stickers, and thinking "Damn, I look good in this." That looks and smells exactly like shopping to me. Razz

My boyfriend does have his share of expensive big boy toys. I have several expensive toys (2 guitars and an amp); however, I still drive a POS car because of it. While I have dragged my boyfriend along on a few shopping trips, I have paid for all of my own purchases.

The reckless and foolhardy guys can relax since there will be no feminine violence from me. I'm too busy being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. Wink

To echo what has already been said, not all women like shopping. When I first started dating my husband, I told him straight out: "I have a three store maximum". After the third store, I start getting grumpy.
