I was wondering if anyone else is using the latest Mac OS yet and what you thought. For my money it's the best yet and was well worth the cost. |

Excuse my while I wipe my drool of envy off my keyboard...
Not yet. I have a 5 year old Powerbook G4 with an 80 gig hard drive and 512 ram. It functions fine, but has limited ways to expand, so am waiting to upgrade before I get the new OS..... I read about it, and it sounds great.
I am running OSX.4.10, which is wonderful. No problems with it at all, but.... I have aa writing gig, which pays well, and, in a few months, going for a Macbook Pro with a 17 inch screen, and... OSX.5
I liked the review of the folders you can keep in the dock that spring load, nice, and the emails that can be post cards.
What Mac(s) are you using again? |

I run an iMac as my main machine, 2Ghz Core2Duo, 2GB Ram + 2 external firewire HD's, 1 for time machine. 1.33Ghz, 1.25 GB Ram, Aluminim Powerbook G4. Both of these run Leopard brilliantly although Nvidia have done a less then impressive job on the drivers for the powerbook. I've tried Leopard on my G4 450 tower (hacked installer) and it runs surprisingly well. My 3 G3's are all running 10.3.9, I wouldn't even put 10.4 on them as it's overheads would bog them down.
One of my biggest surprises with Leopard is the improvements the new OpenGL has made on gaming performance, massive speed increases.
The spring loaded folders, stacks, are great if there aren't too many files inside, otherwise they vanish of the desktop if your using the 'fan' view rather then 'grid'
The 17" Macbook pro's are tasty bits of kit mate so good choice there. |

^^It's actually fine for a dot zero. Resource wise it's officialy limited to G4 867 Mhz + with 512 MB Ram, I ran it on a G4 450 with 384 MB and a 16 MB ATI 128 pro for a few days and bar a few things not working (mainly some of the effects) it ran ok, pretty close to Tiger in most respects so it's not that much more resource hungry then Tiger. |

^^That'll run it fine. The real security 'issue' seems to be that the firewall defaults to off when you install, but as it has an on button, not too much of a problem, besides most people have routers with built in firewalls nowadays. 10.5.1 is expected to be out in the next 4-6 weeks. |

The Mac OS X Leopard firewall failed every test. It is not activated by default and, even when activated, it does not behave as expected. Network connections to non-authorised services can still be established and even under the most restrictive setting, "Block all incoming connections," it allows access to system services from the internet. Although the problems and peculiarities described here are not security vulnerabilities in the sense that they can be exploited to break into a Mac, Apple would be well advised to sort them out pronto. |

^^^^Another argument to wait until after a few more updates.
Granted, most Mac users I know use a third-party firewall program on top of the "native." The guides published by various "gurus" recommend it.
